Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot's Tao Pai Pai Pillar Release Window Leaked

Dragon Ball Z Kakarot's Tao Pai Pai pillar vehicle finally has a release window. According to leaks from this month's V-Jump magazine, the vehicle should come out sometime this June.

Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot reporter Dragon Ball Hype released early scans of the V-Jump issue onto Twitter, which were picked up by YouTuber Dm Gaming. While the issue doesn't present any Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot information itself, the preview it has of next month's issue does, and it specifically references Tao Pai Pai's pillar.

According to the preview pages, Tao Pai Pai's pillar will be available in-game by the time the issue launches. With this in mind, fans can calculate when the pillar releases. Since V-jump's next month issue comes out on June 19, the pillar should arrive sometime in mid-June. More specifically, it should be here before the spring season of this year ends, which is June 20.

For those unfamiliar with it, Tao Pai Pai's pillar is one of the many vehicles players can ride in DBZ: Kakarot, similar to that of the game's Flying Nimbus. However, only players who bought the Ultimate Edition of Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot will have access to it.

The vehicle itself is an easter egg to one of Dragon Ball's most iconic moments, one that displayed a feat of power not yet seen within the series. Said moment sees The Red Ribbon Army hiring Tao Pai Pai — a renowned hitman — to kill Kid Goku. After accepting the job, Tao breaks off one of the pillars supporting the porch of The Red Ribbon Army's headquarters. He then performs some convoluted mental gymnastics to calculate Goku's precise position before launching the pillar in that direction, jumping on it, and then leisurely riding it to Goku's location.

Exactly why it's taking so long for the pillar to release remains a mystery. As far as anyone knows, it doesn't have a significant impact on the game at large. If anything, the vehicle will be even slower than the Flying Nimbus and just outright outclassed by regular-old flying. It'll serve more as a collector's item than anything else.

Regardless, it has a release window now, so fans at least have an idea of when it will arrive. When it does finally launch, all the DBZ: Kakarot Ultimate Edition Exclusives will be available, as both the Ultimate Cooking Item and Music Compilation Pack are already in the game.

Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
