Fans Are Frustrated With Call of Duty: Modern Warfare's Current State

It has been nearly half a year since the launch of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, and the game is still suffering from big issues. The recent free-play and double-XP weekends highlighted problems within the game, and fans are quickly growing concerned.

Reddit, Twitter, and the Activision Blog are filled with confused and angry fans. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare has a dedicated community, but a lack of communication from Activision and Infinity Ward has been cited as frustrating by players. Some long time fans of the Call of Duty franchise are finding themselves losing their desire to play the game.

Fans have been asking for "Shoot the Ship" to be added to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare for months, which they received, but players have been subsequently met with long load times and laggy gameplay due to ongoing issues. Activision has not yet put out a statement, and inquiries presented to the Activision Support on Twitter reply with a standard "we are investigating the issue."

Some fans feel abandoned by Activision and Infinity Ward, believing that the companies have offered no acknowledgment or apology for ongoing issues. It is even becoming an issue where updates cause more problems than they fix, repeating the never-ending support cycle for fans. The patch notes released several days ago show that the developers are fixing bugs within the game, just not the ones preventing fans from playing the game.

The Call of Duty community is under a ton of stress from real-world problems, which seems to be adding fuel to the frustrations. Companies like Activision and Infinity Ward are being affected by the nationwide quarantine which is impacting development time, which does explain some of the issues. Still, fans are stuck in isolation and turning to Activision to provide social relief during this tense period of time. Fans are looking for answers, and many are hoping that Activision will come forward with a solution in this week's update.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is available on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
