Pokémon Go: The 10 Best Gen 6 Pokémon, Predicted & Ranked
The times in which we find ourselves has caused a pause for games like Pokémon GO. Generation 6 of Pokémon GO is set to debut at some point in 2020; hopefully, it can be released during the summer months.
Even though Gen 6 hasn’t been released yet, everyone knows what Pokémon will be included, as well as their stats (which are subject to change). This will at least allow players to know in advance which Pokémon are worth a road-trip. This list will not feature Shiny, Mega, or Primal variants – only the base forms. Lastly, all stats given in an entry are the maximum values that should be attainable once Gen 6 is added to Pokémon GO.
10 Avalugg
Avalugg is an Ice-type Pokémon whose weaknesses limit its effectiveness in combat. Ice moves are strong against Flying and Dragon-type Pokémon; this will almost certainly make Avalugg a great dragon slayer.
It has a CP of 3198, an attack of 196, a defense of 240, and a stamina of 216. In the main game, Avalugg can learn Blizzard and Avalanche. Both of these are excellent charge moves in Pokémon GO. The choice for a quick move will likely be between Ice Fang and Powder Snow, both of which are about average.
9 Sylveon
Sylveon is a cat-like Fairy-type Pokémon that should be a great matchup against two of the more popular types: Dragon and Fighting. It should be especially strong against Dragon types, even more so than Avalugg. It has a CP of 3069, an attack of 203, a defense of 205, and a stamina of 216.
In addition to some pretty good stats, Sylveon should also have some nice moves for the player to choose from. Likely charge moves will be Moonblast and Dazzling Gleam, with the latter being one of the best charge moves in Pokémon GO. Charm is the only Fairy-type quick move so it will almost assuredly be an option. Tackle is another charge move that could possibly be available to Sylveon.
8 Delphox
Delphox is a bipedal, fox-like Fire/Psychic-type Pokémon. As this Pokémon has an assortment of powerful attacks in the main series of Pokémon games, let’s hope this remains the same in Pokémon GO. The charge move Future Sight is powerful in the main series and is a move Delphox learns via leveling-up.
If it’s also given good choices for a quick attack, Delphox might be close to being top tier. Ember is a possible option for a quick attack. Its CP is 3059, with an attack of 230, a defense of 189, and a stamina of 181.
7 Tyrantrum
Tyrantrum is a Rock/Dragon-type Pokémon that is clearly modeled after the legendary Tyrannosaurus Rex. This Pokémon has too many weaknesses or it would be higher on this list. Fire-type attacks are super ineffective against Tyrantum, which makes it a good choice for matches against Fire types.
It has a CP of 3128, an attack of 227, a defense of 191, and a stamina of 193. Ancient Power, Earthquake, and Dragon Claw will probably be available charge moves for Tyrantrum. Dragon Tail is a powerful quick attack that will likely be an option.
6 Goodra
Goodra is a Dragon-type with excellent, well-balanced stats, and will hopefully get some powerful moves from which to choose. As a Dragon-type, it has resistances to some of the more common move types like Fire, Water, Electric, and Grass.
Goodra has a CP of 3505, an attack of 220, a defense of 242, and a stamina of 207. Its probable options for charge moves will probably include Dragon Pulse, which is fairly powerful if used by a high tier Pokémon. There are only two Dragon-type quick moves, Dragon Tail and Dragon Breath, so Goodra will probably be limited to those. Fortunately, both of those quick moves rank high when compared to all the others.
5 Florges
Florges is a Fairy-type Pokémon; however, it resembles a flower and has access to many powerful Grass-type moves in the main series. This makes Florges a powerful Pokémon since it has the attack options of Grass-types without the weaknesses to Fire, Ice, Bug, Flying, and Poison attacks.
Hopefully, it will be given Grass-type quick and charge moves in Pokémon GO. Florges has a CP of 3234, an attack of 212, a defense of 244, and a stamina of 186. Charm and Vine Whip are likely quick moves for Florges; Petal Blizzard and Moonblast are possible charge moves. All of these moves are great and were used by Florges in the main series.
4 Zygarde
In Pokémon GO, Zygarde is a snake-like Dragon/Ground-type Pokémon with some seriously good stats. In the main series, this Pokémon has many forms, this variant is the 50% form. The Complete form of Zygarde is humanoid in appearance, and hopefully will be attainable in Gen 6 or 7.
It has a CP of 3410, an attack of 203, a defense of 232, and a stamina of 239. Possible choices for a charge move include powerful attacks like Earthquake and Outrage. Dragon Breath is the only Dragon-type quick attack it also has access to in the main series.
3 Hoopa
Hoopa is a Psychic/Ghost-type Pokémon that will quickly be the go-to Pokémon when facing a Machamp or some other strong Fighting-type. The reason Hoopa ranks at number 3 instead of higher is due to it being super weak to Dark and Ghost-type attacks.
Just don’t use it against a Gengar. Hoopa has a CP of 4014, an high attack rating of 287, a defense 206, and a stamina of 190. In the main series, Hoopa learns both Zen Headbutt and Confusion, which are both powerful quick moves in Pokémon GO. Psychic and Psybeam are both very probable charge moves for Hoopa.
2 Xerneas
Xerneas is a deer-like Fairy-type Pokémon that, like many Gen 6 Pokémon, will certainly build up a reputation as a reliable dragon slayer. Gen 6 might knock Dragon-type Pokémon down a peg or two.
Xerneas has an incredible CP of 4514, a phenomenal attack rating of 275, a defense of 203, and a healthy stamina rating of 270. Dazzling Gleam and Moonblast are both very powerful charge moves that Xerneas will probably have as an option. Charm might be the only choice in quick moves.
1 Yveltal
Yveltal is a Dark/Flying-type Pokémon that will immediately be considered a top tier combatant when Gen 6 releases. Its weakness to Ice, Electric, and Fairy-type attacks is a hindrance, but Ground and Psychic-type attacks are super ineffective against most of Yveltal attacks.
Yveltal has a CP of 4514, a great attack rating of 275, a defense of 203, and a stout stamina rating of 270. Foul Play and Sucker Punch are strong charge moves that will hopefully be available to Yveltal in Pokémon GO. Zen Headbutt and Confusion are likely options for a quick move, and both are great in Pokémon GO.
