Psychological Horror Game Those Who Remain Gets Trailer and Release Date
Camel 101's latest title, Those Who Remain, has recently released a brand new trailer that comes with an announcement on the psychological horror game's release date. Coming later this month, Those Who Remain promises to bring a first-person, horror experience to PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
Those Who Remain comes from the development team at Camel 101, whose previous works include titles like Orczz and Syndrome, and is produced by Wired Productions and WhisperGames. The producers involved have previously worked with games from all across the spectrum such as Shaq Fu: The Legend Reborn, and 2019's award winning Disco Elysium.
The brand new trailer for Those Who Remain captures the tension that Camel 101 is striving for within the psychological genre that the game finds itself in good company with. Taking players to the town of Dormont, the game looks like it will take notes from the Amnesia series and Lovecraftian horror, with an emphasis on maintaining sanity while escaping horrifying monsters. One monster, seemingly made up of a number of body parts such as hands and feet, makes an appearance in the trailer, haunting the player as they enter Dormont.
Fortunately, for anyone looking to dive into the type of psychological horror that Those Who Remain promises to bring to players, the trailer also revealed that the title will be releasing on May 28th. The game will also be releasing on multiple systems, meaning it will be available to anyone playing on PC, PS4, or Xbox One, with no exclusivity seemingly planned at launch. There doesn't seem to be a Switch release planned for the future, but if it sells well enough on the consoles it originally launches for, there is always a possibility that it could extend to other outlets for more players.
In a time where a lot of people are more or less stuck at home, now is a time when players can really relate to the ever changing landscape of the horror genre, and may want that type of escape. A number of horror titles have begun releasing and will seemingly continue to be developed as long as players want to turn to the darker world offered by games like Those Who Remain as a way of grounding their current situation. All-in-all, a good scare like what Camel 101 seems to be promising may be exactly what some players need right now.
