Steam Summer Sale Start Date Leaked | Game Rant
Steam has always been known for its extensive library of downloadable games, but the thing that gets the PC gaming community excited more than anything are Steam's annual sales. Specifically the Steam Summer and Winter Sales. Though, now thanks to a recent leak, the start date of the Steam Summer Sale of 2020 has been revealed.
Steam is a digital video game distribution service created by Valve back in the early 2000s. Today, it serves as one of the premiere platforms to purchase video games on personal computers. As a result of the COVID-19 outbreak, Steam set a record for most amount of online users back in March, due to the amount of people forced to stay indoors.
The Steam sales are famous for having numerous popular titles go on sale for a fraction of what they would normally cost. The previous Steam Winter Sale had entire games that were on sale for less than a dollar. Thus, whenever either Steam Sale comes along, a flood of users take advantage of these respective opportunities.
In a recent leak, it was revealed that the start date for this year's Steam Summer Sale is June 25th and is expected to end on July 9th. There was no information regarding what games would be on sale, but the sale is expected to start at around that time frame. Though, given the amount of games that were downloaded last year, there are sure to be plenty of fan favorites included in the sale.
Given the large volume of terrific games that were released in 2019, the list of games going on sale for the Steam Summer Sale is sure to be extensive. If there's one thing Valve knows how to do it's knowing how to treat its users. In fact, there was recent talk of Valve creating a loyalty program for its users that would offer discounts and other incentives.
It's nice to see how reactive Valve has been in terms of everything that's been going on with the COVID-19 pandemic. There's currently a free game being offered on Steam for a limited time as part of a collaboration with Sega. Hopefully, Valve will continue that trend of generosity in terms of the upcoming Steam Summer Sale.
