Animal Crossing: New Horizons Anteater Villager Breakdown
Animal Crossing: New Horizons features 400 potential villagers, but only 10 of them are allowed to live on the player's island at any given time. Of course, when choosing villagers as neighbors, most players would tend to go for the most popular characters, most of them belonging to the cat species.
However, for those who are looking for an animal group that is neither popular nor unpopular, the franchise's anteaters are definitely worth considering. Now, for those who are interested, here are all the anteater villagers in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. It is worth noting though that while there are 10 anteaters in the entire franchise, this list will only focus on the 7 that are featured in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.
Headlining the list of anteater villagers in Animal Crossing: New Horizons is the peppy villager Anabelle, who made her debut in the franchise in Animal Crossing: Wild World for the Nintendo DS. Interestingly enough, although Anabelle's body shape is reminiscent of her fellow anteaters, her design resembles that of a pangolin, a mammal of the order Pholidota that is not related to the anteater. Moreover, her hobby includes a passion for fashion, which heavily influences her preferred topics of conversation. Of course, given her peppy personality, Anabelle is often in a good mood and will mostly overreact even to the most mundane of things.
Next on the list is the normal anteater villager Annalisa, who is a newcomer to the franchise having only appeared in Animal Crossing: New Leaf and New Horizons. Her design features a light pink blush on the chick and light pink eyeshadow. Given her made-up look, most people assume that Annalisa is a snooty villager, when she is in fact, normal. Given her personality, Annalisa will mix well with most villagers though she may come into conflict with those under the cranky and sisterly personality types.
Next is Antonio who is a jock anteater villager who serves as the only jock anteater in the entire Animal Crossing franchise and the second male anteater after Cyrano. Antonio is a veteran villager in Animal Crossing having first appeared in the Japanese-exclusive game, Animal Forest e+. Of course, true to his jock personality, Antonio has the fitness hobby and will endlessly talk about physical appearance and exercise in every conversation. His character design features a cream-colored snout and beady black eyes. On the other hand, his tail resembles that of a feather duster. Moreover, Antonio will get along with peppy, cranky, and sisterly villagers, but will obviously come into conflict with lazy characters, often judging them for their lack of interest in fitness and their laid-back lifestyle.
The anteater villager Cyrano is the first male anteater character who appeared in the Animal Crossing franchise. Cyrano debuted in the first Animal Forest game, making him one of the oldest villagers on this list. Cyrano is also a cranky villager, which means that he is often grouchy and in an agitated mood. Upon the first few encounters, players will find him hard to befriend, and he will take a longer time to warm up to the player and other villagers. Cyrano will find it easy to socialize with jock, snooty, and other cranky villagers. However, they may come into conflict with peppy villagers especially since they see them as overstimulated and immature. True to his cranky personality, Cyrano loves to spread rumors about other villagers.
Of course, the list of anteater villagers in Animal Crossing: New Horizons wouldn't be complete without at least one smug villager. Having first appeared in Animal Crossing: New Leaf, Olaf is somewhat of a newcomer to the franchise and has since appeared in the spin-off game, Happy Home Designer, before returning to the main series in New Horizons. Olaf's character design includes a Matador's Jacket, and interestingly enough, it appears that his sleeves are a permanent fixture in his design, given that they won't be removed even if he changes into a sleeveless garment. Moreover, due to his smug personality, Olaf is extremely polite and gentleman-like, though he has the tendency to always talk about himself and act superior. In a general sense, Olaf will mix well with most villagers, except for cranky ones.
Another peppy anteater villager in this list is Pango, who has appeared all games in the Animal Crossing franchise. Her character design includes a dark-blue skin tone, with sea-green muzzle and paws. She also wears some makeup like the prominent purple eyeshadow that matches the purple lining on her tail. Similar to Annalisa, people often assume that Pango is a snooty villager, mostly because of the heavy makeup she wears. True to her peppy personality, Pango is excitable and nothing can bring her down when she sets her mind into doing something. As previously mentioned, Pango has appeared in every Animal Crossing game to date and is the only female anteater to do so.
Last on the list is Snooty, and as her name clearly suggests, she is a snooty villager. She has appeared in multiple Animal Crossing games but was missing in City Folk and Wild World. Snooty's character design includes a pink and maroon skin tone with two small black dots that serve as her eyes. Due to her snooty personality, Snooty wears a permanent frown on her face, but this is mostly hidden by her snout. Snooty often appears as the classy and chic lady, but is sometimes rude, snobbish, and belittling when talking to the player and other villagers. Interestingly enough, Snooty is the only character in the entire Animal Crossing franchise who has a name that matches her personality.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons is out now for the Nintendo Switch.
