Apex Legends Could Be Adding New Map | Game Rant
Apex Legends is one of the biggest multiplayer games in the world right now. Respawn Entertainment is doing an excellent job of updating Apex Legends and keeping it relevant with new seasons, fresh content, and more. Now it looks like the most exciting type of content may be on the way, a brand new map.
Recently a job posting popped up online for a level designer position for Apex Legends. The posting mentioned that it is looking for someone who can "create and own large scale multiplayer maps iterating through gameplay blackouts in a live playtest environment." Season 5 came with massive map changes to Kings Canyon, but this could be pointing to a totally new location.
Respawn recently announced that it is opening an Apex Legends dedicated studio in Vancouver Canada. The success of the battle royale has allowed the developer to focus more on the shooter, meaning more time and effort can be put into things like a brand new map. The Apex Legends level designer position specifically mentions Vancouver.
Along with the specifics mentioned above, Respawn also talks about looking for forward-thinking and creative new ways to improve gameplay experiences in the job listing. Thus far, the two maps, Kings Canyon and World's Edge, are both open and vast. It would certainly be intriguing if the gameplay were to be shifted and a tighter and more focused urban map like Angel City was to be added to Apex Legends.
Respawn is using the quests system for added creativity in Apex Legends this season, and so far it has made it so that many fans are joining in on the fun of Season 5. The added lore that comes from the mode fills in some story elements that many felt were missing from the multiplayer-only game.
Unfortunately, there has no new weapon at the start of this season in Apex Legends, so even with all of the cool content, some fans feel like expected details are missing. Perhaps season 6 will come with a new Legend, a new weapon, and a fresh new map, making it one of the most content-heavy seasons so far.
Apex Legends is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
