GameClub is a New Subscription Service for Android Gaming
Most people who've picked up a mobile game have faced the annoyance of in-app purchases and ads. GameClub seeks to get rid of that with an "all-you-can-play" subscription model for the iOS App Store and now, Google Play.
GameClub releases new games weekly for a monthly subscription price of $4.99. It wasn't available for Android before, but the Google Play Store is getting to join in on the game subscription. GameClub looks similar to Google Play Pass, but this new service seems to be focused on reviving old favorites rather than focusing on newer games. Some of these games include Breach & Clear, Death Bat, and Flick Fishing, the last of those being a remake of a popular fishing game available for the first time on Android.
Gaming subscription services seem to be getting more and more popular, like with EA recently announcing EA Access would be coming to Steam soon. GameClub has been available for iOS since October 2019, and is now entering the world of Android by drawing on the popularity of old hits. There's Puzzlejuice, a new game from the creator of the old favorite Threes!, and Neon Shadow, an "homage to first person shooters." Nostalgia will likely play a big factor in making or breaking this service.
With Fortnite arriving in the Google Play Store a few months ago, it looks like Google is making a concentrated effort on improving its mobile gaming services and offerings. There's over a hundred games already available in GameClub's library, with more on the way. For Android gamers, it's worth at least checking out.
