HBO Max Extends Availability of DC Movies | Game Rant
HBO Max is deciding to extend the availability of 10 different DC Comics movies, the streaming platform announced on Thursday. The original plan was to pull these DC films from the service as of July 1. Warner Bros. has now confirmed that the films will remain available on HBO Max through December 2020.
The films in question include modern DC Comics films Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Justice League, Suicide Squad, and Wonder Woman, as well as classic DC films Superman: The Movie, Superman 2, Superman 3, Superman 4: The Quest for Peace, Superman: Unbound, and Watchmen.
According to Warner Bros., the original plan was to rotate these films off of the platform and then bring in a new round of DC Comics films in August. The films planned to be released in August on HBO Max were never clarified. HBO Max apparently cited popular demand as the reason that the films will remain.
The existence of DC Comics properties on HBO Max doesn't seem like it should be a complicated subject. DC Comics is the property of Warner Bros., so why not put everything DC Comics-related on HBO Max? But DC Comics also has its own competing subscription service, DC Universe. How the two will coexist going forward remains to be clarified, but HBO Max subscribers are certain to be frustrated if Warner Bros. goes through with removing content from the service, December or otherwise.
HBO Max is available now PC, PS4, Xbox One, Apple devices, Android devices, and Samsung TVs.
