Modern Warfare Video Makes Fun of Player Reactions to Updates

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare has been out for less than a year, but it's already gotten a decent amount of updates, some of which are not exactly fan favorites. A video entitled "Every Modern Warfare Update Reaction" pokes fun at how different players have reacted to updates.

The YouTube channel Replay Mode published the video June 23, using a compilation of gameplay clips accompanied by voiceover that complains about various updates in Modern Warfare. Replay Mode brands itself on its channel description as a friend group composed of "Machinima style" fans. This video was made by Austin Clark, who used the game's Realism mode to record the clips.

The complaints span a range of topics, including Modern Warfare map issues, nerf angst, constant remakes and perceived lack of originality, and anger directed at Infinity Ward. The video description itself makes fun of the huge size of some updates. The voiceover treated some of the complaints seriously, while other complaints were clearly meant to be sarcastic or making fun of the people making them. One clip showed a character whining about a gun being OP for killing him while he wasn't even paying attention.

The video continued to lampoon players that complain about small changes to their favorite guns by showing an in-game character switching out his weapon and saying he'd never use the old gun again because it got "slightly nerfed." While complaining about Infinity Ward in some clips, it also pointed out the absurdity of players who are upset at "tiny aspects of the game" that don't get enough attention from Infinity Ward, and proceed to make lengthy critical videos of the devs.

The comments section was mostly in favor of the video, with multiple comments about the video being "so true" and "too real". While much of the video was focused around parodying player reactions, at least part of the playerbase is self-aware of these issues within the Modern Warfare community. Other commentators praised the video for being high quality, and Replay Mode replied with by saying the channel might release a video soon with settings info so others could make cleaner Machinimas of the game.

The recent Modern Warfare update was only a few days ago and introduced several new game modes that are getting their own reactions in real-time online as players experience the new features for themselves. The Replay Mode channel is up-and-coming, and will hopefully make more funny, high-quality videos for Modern Warfare fans to enjoy.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is available to play now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
