Red Dead Online Getting Major Showdown Mode Bonuses | Game Rant
Red Dead Online is having a special event this week, offering free resupplies for Traders and Moonshiners and triple rewards on Showdown Modes, alongside a bunch of other new bonuses and discounts.
News of the event was shared via Rockstar's website, where the developer has been strangely quiet on the subject of Red Dead Online in recent weeks. However, this event of resupplies and discounts will run throughout the entire week and 4th of July weekend, until Monday, July 6.
Going into a little more detail on this week's event, trader resupplies and refills of Moonshine Mash will be free for its entire duration. Rockstar has also added another interesting detail into its announcement post: players who can complete the Veteran's Collection and gather the 1792 Quarter, Old Tom Gin and Aubrey Onyx Ring will be "handsomely rewarded" if they bring all of those items to the traveling merchant Madam Nazar.
The reward for doing this will present itself in both repuation and a monetary stipend, according to Rockstar. Meanwhile, players using Showdown Modes will be able to earn extra with triple rewards, including on the Gun Rush Featured Series.
Red Dead Online will also be discounting the price of the Butcher Table by 5 gold bars. Other discounts include 40% off all guns and pamphlets, 50% off melee and thrown weapons, 60% off ammunition, and free gun oil. All in all, this week represents a good chance for Red Dead Online players to get some decent playtime logged and save a bunch of in-game currency while doing it.
Recently, fans have been wondering if Red Dead Online is dead. There's been no word on a new expansion for some time, leading fans to grow frustrated in the absence of new content, especially during this time when everyone is stuck home more often than not.
While these weekly updates aren't "new" content, per se, perhaps they're a step in the right direction for Rockstar in giving its Red Dead Online players a little more to do. Hopefully, news of a new expansion--or even a Red Dead remake, as previously speculated--isn't far behind.
Red Dead Online is available to play for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
