Spider-Man: Miles Morales Trailer Hit by Copyright Strike on PlayStation's YouTube Channel
Spider-Man: Miles Morales was one of the most exciting announcements to come out of Sony's PlayStation 5 reveal stream, offering players an experience similar in scope to Uncharted: Lost Legacy. And while playing as Miles Morales on the PlayStation 5 is an exciting concept, the Spider-Man: Miles Morales reveal trailer has since been hit by a copyright strike from Gameloft S.E.
It isn't entirely clear what the cause of the copyright strike is, or if it was even meant to be put on the video in the first place, but Sony's version of the trailer, uploaded to the official PlayStation YouTube account, appears to be the only one affected, with other uploads of the trailer still available on the site.
YouTube is notoriously ham-fisted with copyright strikes, which frequently causes unrest with members of its community. According to its guidelines, a channel can only receive three copyright claims before being disabled, with initial copyright claims on a channel having their own negative effects, like blocking the ability to livestream.
Because of that, there's a strong likelihood that Sony will dispute the claim, which will likely result in the strike being lifted from the channel. It's not clear what Gameloft was hoping to achieve in the first place, though there's a chance that the trailer was simply auto-flagged.
Either way, fans have a lot to look forward to with the game. Spider-Man Miles Morales won't be very long, but considering the popularity of the first entry, there should be plenty of fans anxiously awaiting more of it. Sony has demonstrated its capability of creating stellar experiences in shorter formats, which is why Uncharted: Lost Legacy proved so popular. Hopefully, the same will be true here.
Fans still have no official release date for Miles Morales, but there's a good chance that it will launch alongside the PS5, or at least in close proximity to it. It's a major title, and could be the system-seller PlayStation needs early on in the console's life cycle. After all, Microsoft is launching the Xbox Series X with Halo Infinite, a juggernaut title that will almost certainly be a reason to pick up a new Xbox on day one, so there will be some fierce competition.
Spider-Man: Miles Morales is in development for the PS5.
