Analogue Pocket Gaming Handheld Pre-Order Date | Game Rant
It's not too uncommon these days for players to want to relive the nostalgia of some of their favorite games. While some may resort to things like an N64 emulator in an attempt to recapture the past, others have found these emulations don't quite scratch that itch like real cartridges do. For those people, Analogue believes it may have the perfect solution for that problem.
The Analogue Pocket is a new portable gaming device that was announced in 2019 and will allow players to relive the glory of old Game Boy, Game Boy Color, and Game Boy Advance games, all from one convenient portable system. With a 3.5", 615 ppi, LCD screen capable of a 1600x1440 resolution, the Pocket is also capable of playing Game Gear, Neo Geo Pocket, and Atari Lynx games through various adapters.
Those wanting to pre-order this $200 modern solution for sentimentality won't have to wait long. In a tweet from Analogue, it was announced that pre-orders will go live on Analogue's website on August 3, 2020, at 8 am PST with a limit of 2 per order. It went on to say that it is currently anticipated to ship in May of 2021.
In addition to playing games, the Analogue Pocket also comes equipped with a digital audio workstation (or DAW) called Nanoloop. This DAW has both a synthesizer and a sequencer and is capable of connecting to a PC or Mac via MIDI cables.
While $200 may seem like a steal for this new toy, it does carry a couple of caviats with it. The base unit is only capable of playing Game Boy, Game Boy Color, and Game Boy Advance games, while players looking to play old Game Gear games or other portable classics will have to purchase a $30 adapter. Still, there's denying how cool this portable system is.
The Analogue Pocket is available for preorder on August 3, 2020, and will be shipped May 2021.
