Call of Duty 2020 Title and Logo Leaked via Doritos Promo
Though Activision and Infinity Ward's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare continues to see high sales with a steady stream of added content, rumors and speculation regarding Call of Duty 2020 have been popping up frequently over the last few months. Earlier today, prominent leaker Okami13_ said Call of Duty 2020 is still on schedule for this year with a reveal coming "very soon," and another leak publicized by the news site Modern Warzone suggests the same through a Doritos promotion.
According to the leaked Doritos promo, the game will be called Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, as seen through a logo on the bag. Current speculation based on data found within an alpha called The Red Door leaked by the Microsoft Store is that Call of Duty 2020 will be Call of Duty: Black Ops CIA instead. While neither of these sources provides concrete evidence, and should be taken with a grain of salt until Activision's official announcement, the Doritos packaging points to more specific details.
The promotion itself, which offers players double experience points for an hour each day (40 hours total) and enters them into a giveaway for one year of double experience, is said to begin on October 5, 2020 and end on January 31, 2021. It also says Call of Duty 2020's ESRB rating is pending.
Images of the Doritos packaging were first sent to Call of Duty leaker TheGamingRevolution on YouTube, however, he provided them to Modern Warzone for fear of his video on the subject being taken down by Activision if he used any legitimate promotional material. The YouTuber hosted a number of leaks in June, including new multiplayer maps in Call of Duty 2020 such as a massive Ground War ice map and a few standard 6v6 maps.
Similar leaks have come from other sources, notably those datamining The Red Door alpha. Eight new multiplayer maps, campaign missions, and zombies were leaked via those looking through the alpha's files, though there is no mention of returning maps which were previously found such as Nuketown and Firing Range.
While the Doritos promotion offers a general window for Call of Duty 2020's release, the lack of official confirmation by Activision or Black Ops series developers Treyarch means it is hard to tell whether this leaked information can be taken seriously. In the meantime, fans are waiting on Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Warzone Season 5, which appear to be coming in early August.
Call of Duty 2020 is rumored to be in development for unspecified platforms.
