Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Finisher Gets Unexpectedly Gory
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is not typically a game for the faint of heart. However, one player got killed in an unexpectedly gory way that many online are comparing to a Mortal Kombat level of violence that isn't typical of that specific Call of Duty game.
The kill cams in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare typically show the player how the opponent got the upper hand against them. Players can use this footage to analyze what went wrong to improve their Call of Duty gameplay or simply watch it to pass the time as they wait to respond. However, one player had a kill cam that was unusual, even by the method that they were killed.
One player took to Reddit to report an anomaly with their death. A social media user by the name of GuitarCeas posted a video of the strange execution that their opponent pulled on them. The video showed that the Call of Duty player was killed with a knife from behind. However, when their opponent went to stab them in the neck, the enemy ended up completely decapitating them and causing a lot of blood to seemingly explode out of the body.
While other games in the Call of Duty franchise may have violence at this level, Modern Warfare has locked the variant gore. In other words, this kind of gory death is pretty rare for this game. Many fans in the comments were debating the locked gore in the game and whether or not the other games gave players a better experience because of the higher level of violence. Some players said that the lack of gore robbed the game of realism, as wars in real life have had limbs exploding from bodies.
Though the kill was rare, many players who viewed the clip found it to be very satisfying. With such strong community feedback, Infinity Ward may want to implement more mature executions in the developer's future Call of Duty games. If fans believe that these executions are more rewarding to receive when achieving harder to manage kills, the developer may want to take that player response into account.
Call of Duty: Warzone is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
