Call of Duty: Warzone - How to Get Counter-UAV | Game Rant
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare recently saw another update that once again makes some changes to both the online multiplayer and Warzone game modes. The patch notes for Modern Warfare's update 1.23 revealed some big changes to many of the game’s weapons and online playlists.
However, there was one change that wasn’t included within the patch notes that some players were quick to uncover while playing Warzone. It seems that Infinity Ward subtly included the ability for players to call in a Counter-UAV during Warzone through a handful of methods.
Counter-UAVs are a common killstreak reward in the normal multiplayer mode of Call of Duty games, so players might be interested in how they work in Warzone. While Warzone is primarily a battle royale mode with various other modes to try out, like a newly leaked prop hunt mode, the main gameplay pits over 100 players in a massive map until one squad is left standing. During Warzone matches, players can find various items and perks scattered randomly around the map in chests.
Players can find a number of items during a match, including blueprint weapons, equipment, and even contracts like supply run or most wanted contracts. One of the ways players can obtain a Counter-UAV is to simply stumble across one inside a chest during a match. However, it seems the chances of randomly finding a Counter-UAV are quite rare even though the item seems to be ‘Epic’ in terms of rarity.
The second option for players who want to call in a UAV is a bit more complicated. It seems that players wanting to call in a Counter-UAV need to call in four regular UAVs all at once, activating not only an Advanced UAV for the whole squad but also a Counter-UAV for all enemy squads for around 30 seconds. Unfortunately, this was recently made a little bit harder as Warzone just replaced regular quads with a 200 player mode. While that change won’t last forever, it will make calling in a Counter-UAV harder at the present time.
It’s also important that a Counter-UAV called in using this method won’t show up as a notification for the squad that used it, even as an update in the killfeed during the Warzone match. Calling in four UAVs will cost $16,000 which is quite demanding to simply block out the enemy radar for half a minute. While Counter-UAVs can be extremely helpful in certain situations, it might be worth it to spend that cash elsewhere during the heat of a match.
Clearly, the recent patch has changed Warzone and multiplayer in some subtle and not-so-subtle ways. One of those impactful changes from the latest patch nerfed the popular assault rifle – the Grau 5.56. It remains to be seen how these changes will affect Warzone’s ever-changing meta.
Call of Duty: Warzone is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
