Can You Beat Khotun Khan at the Beginning of Ghost of Tsushima
Boss battles and video games are in a life long relationship, one that will surely never end but always be subjected to debate. Sucker Punch’s newest game, Ghost of Tsushima, doesn’t shy away from putting the player in difficult situations with an overbearing enemy. Early in the game, players are faced with a very challenging fight with Khotun Khan who won’t go down easily.
Ghost of Tsushima follows the story of Jin, a samurai who was raised to fight with honor. After a horrific attack on his allies, Jin sets off into the beautiful island of Tsushima to pave his own path and fight back against injustice. The open-world game allows players to play as a true samurai by holding up the standards taught to him by his family or go the route of the ghost and take out invaders by any means necessary.
After a key moment at the beginning of the game, Jin is face to face with the game’s antagonist, Khotun Khan. Khotun and Jin share a brief staredown that immediately leads to a fight. Khotun’s health bar is massive compared to Jin’s but quick players can chip away at his health slowly. While it may look like players can beat Khotun early on, the game actually forces players into a cutscene to progress the story. So, unfortunately, players can't beat Khotun Khan during the first boss fight. Players will always be forced into the same cutscene at a certain point.
Sucker Punch does put players in a position to make it seem like they have a real chance at ending the game early. But no matter how hard players try to overcome this challenge, Jin will always be stopped short. The first fight with Khotun Khan is challenging, but the game offers plenty of tips to help the player throughout the experience. Sucker Punch recently commented that the studio had to slow down the load times in Ghost of Tsushima so players had a chance to read the tips on screen.
While this news may be disappointing for players who are looking for a challenge or a cheeky way to beat the game early, at least the experience of Ghost of Tsushima isn’t over after an hour. Players can enjoy exploring the island of Tsushima and learning new skills to be ready for the next fight with Khotun Khan, which should be great news as Ghost of Tsushima is receiving praise from critics.
Ghost of Tsushima offers up a gorgeous world to explore and great characters to meet. The island of Tsushima has plenty for players and Trophy hunters will be pleased to know that Ghost of Tsushima has easily obtainable trophies.
Ghost of Tsushima is available now for the PlayStation 4.
