Cyberpunk 2077 Concept Art Shows Ruins of Pacifica | Game Rant
With Cyberpunk 2077 finally releasing this November, details have started to emerge around the large map that players will be able to explore. Cyberpunk 2077's map is set to be a hugely detailed and expansive, similar to CD Projekt Red's previous project The Witcher 3. In a series of social media posts, the studio has been revealing all the aspects of its new world players will see.
The Cyberpunk 2077 world is made up of six districts including Westbrook, Watson, Pacifica, Heywood, Santa Domingo, City Centre and the Badlands. Each district has its own unique architecture and character factions that make up the area and each will have its own challenges, as well. Players are also able to choose from three different origin stories that will each start them out in a different district.
The Cyberpunk 2077 Twitter account has revealed a closer look at the Pacifica district through some new concept art which shows what once was a luxurious hub decaying into ruins. The tweet described Pacifica as "what could've been Night City's money making vacation resort, but once the money dried up it became a husk left to rot." The Pacifica district is overrun with gang violence and players will likely run into The Voodoo Boys when they enter the area.
Where some areas of Night City are thriving and full of wealth, Pacifica seems to be at the opposite end of the scale. It will still likely be an interesting area to explore as abandoned tourist hot spots such as malls and hotels can be seen in the concept images. A previous gameplay stream from 2019 showed more of Cyberpunk 2077's map in detail, and the Pacifica district was shown to be dangerous and poverty-stricken.
Two gangs inhabit Pacifica, The Voodoo Boys and The Animals, meaning turf wars are frequent. The Voodoo Boys are excellent netrunners and edgerunners, intent on programming new viruses that can freeze entire networks. They are also said to be fighting to protect the Pacifica community that has been forsaken by the NCPD. On the other side, The Animals are focused on human enhancement mainly through the use of animal supplements, making them more aggressive.
Whether the player will be able to choose a side or avoid the gangs all together is not clear at the moment, but the gang war is likely to play a part in the ongoing story when visiting Pacifica. It's also possible that the different lifepaths in Cyberpunk 2077 that a player can choose from will impact how they are received in different districts. Those who choose the street kid path are likely to be more savvy around gangs in Pacifica, whereas the corporate path may receive more mistrust.
Cyberpunk 2077 will be released on November 19th for PC, PS4, and Xbox One with PS5, Xbox Series X, and Stadia versions in development.
