Fortnite: How to Complete Coral Buddies Stone Age Secret Mission

The most recent update to Fortnite has rewarded meticulous players with a follow-up to the Coral Buddies secret challenge questline. After last helping the small blue critters acquaint themselves with wood, players have been tasked with taking the Coral Buddies into the Stone Age.

The new Coral Buddies Stone Age challenge is fairly easy to complete if a Fortnite player knows what to look out for, but without a heads-up, it could easily go unnoticed. The hidden challenge is broken down into two parts and will award 50,000 total XP and the "Riddle of the Sphinx" Legacy Achievement to any player who has "Taught Coral Buddies Stonecrafting" and "Sculpted Coral Kingdom Border Monuments." Experience-hungry players should particularly pursue this challenge if they've already managed to collect the weekly Season 3 XP coins.

To start the secret challenge, players will have to head over to part of the Coral Kingdom. Although the location is not marked on the map, players can use other Season 3 landing spots as a guide. The little isle is located on square B1 of the map, west of Lockie's Lighthouse and north of the giant whirlpool.

Once on the island in question, players should be able to find a small collection of stone slabs. By approaching the monument-to-be and offering 300 stone, explorers can help the Coral Buddies finish constructing a pyramid and complete the "Taught Coral Buddies Stonecrafting" portion of the challenge. This awards players with 25,000 XP and causes 3 new monuments-in-progress to spawn along the borders of the Coral Kingdom - these monuments are the second part of the secret challenge.

Once the Coral Buddies' pyramid is built, players should venture to three other spots on the map to help the little ones build the rest of their monuments. In this case, three sphinx statues. All three of the works-in-progress can be found in the immediate vicinity of the giant Season 3 whirlpool, though opposing players and the encroaching storm may make it difficult to knock out all 3 in one run.

Monument 1 of 3 can be found just at the base of Lockie's Lighthouse. Monuments 2 and 3 can be found on a shore just northwest of the giant whirlpool, and on a small isle just east of the whirlpool, respectively. Once a player locates the slabs of stone, they should simply strike the monument with their pickaxe - this will transform the rock-pile into a regal sphinx. Building all three sphinxes will unlock the "Riddle of the Sphinx" Legacy Achievement and award the player an additional whopping 25,000 XP.

After uncovering all the hidden gnome vs. teddy bear lore in Season 2, players have been particularly wary of fun challenges like the above tucked into Fortnite updates. Although the locations are secretive and certainly tricky to stumble upon alone, the challenges themselves are simple enough to feel rewarding. The 300 stone required to start off the quest can be quickly harvested on the initial Coral Kingdom islet itself, and hitting the 3 monuments with a pickaxe is a cakewalk.

Fortnite is available now on Mobile, PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One. PS5 and Xbox Series X versions are currently in development.
