Game of Thrones Star Has Great Idea for Fortnite Weapons
One of the most popular TV shows from the last decade and one of the most popular video games are coming together. Maisie Williams, of Game of Thrones and The New Mutants fame, has revealed herself as a Fortnite fan who has some suggestions to make about the game.
Fortnite has crossed over with other popular franchises like the DC Universe in the past, and the game itself is well-known to people who don't even play video games. But it looks like Williams is a fan of the game, because she has a proposed gameplan for players with more passive playstyles who "avoid confrontation by any means necessary." Her idea, which she shared via Twitter, was for players to be able to combine and upgrade five weak guns for a more powerful weapon. She accompanied the tweet with a photo of someone, possibly Williams herself, playing the battle royale.
Williams is best-known for her portrayal of Arya Stark in Game of Thrones, a role that made her a household name with nearly 3 million Twitter followers. Her Fortnite tweet has over 14,000 likes and over 500 comments. One of these comments remarked that the actress being a gamer hasn't been common knowledge, to which Williams replied that she was "very new" to gaming in general.
Other comments disagreed with the premise of the tweet. @TforTitan commented that the game supports its sales by promoting a "high octane playstyle" and that Williams's proposed passive strategy would "ruin the game" due to its nature of being a battle royale. Fortnite has a lot of wacky elements like hidden teddy bears, giant dinosaur footprints, and more, but many of the players are serious and competitive. However, the majority of the comments didn't relate much to the content of the tweet, but were wishful requests for the actress to play or stream Fortnite with them.
Season 3 has brought a fair amount of new changes, like parts of the map flooding (and the water eventually receding) and new weekly challenges. The challenges vary in difficulty, which suits a game that has some more competitive players and some who favor more passive playstyles like Maisie Williams mentioned. There's plenty to do in the whole game, with tons of locations and weapons that support a diverse array of players and their approach to gaming. As long as someone likes battle royales, they can go after basically any experience they want in Fortnite.
Fortnite has been called one of the best free-to-play Xbox games, and part of that is because Epic Games listens to the community and makes changes and updates accordingly. Players who like Williams's idea will have to wait and see if Epic Games ends up implementing something like this into the game.
Fortnite is free-to-play on Mobile, PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One, with PS5 and Xbox Series X versions in development.
