Idris Elba's Odds Of Becoming 007 Just Skyrocketed | Game Rant
Daniel Craig's final performance as James Bond will be in the franchise's upcoming 26th film, No Time to Die, but just because it will be Craig's last movie doesn't mean it will be the last for 007. Tradition dictates that the role be recast and the series rebooted, and if a new report is anything to go by, Idris Elba may very well be the one to take up the mantle.
According to Alex Apati of Ladbrokes, Ebla's standing for the role has suddenly and significantly increased. The outlet has a catalog for all the actors with the potential to become the next James Bond, and as it stands right now, Elba has a 10/1 chance. He's by no means in the lead, but he's definitely closer than several others in the standings and closing in on those higher than him.
In order of greatest to least, the most noteworthy actors currently ahead of him are James Norton with a 2/1, Sam Heughan with a 3/1, and Elba's fellow Thor co-star Tom Hiddleson with a 5/1.
Exactly why Idris Elba's popularity for the role shot so high and continues to climb recently remains unseen, but according to Alex Apati, Elba has always been high on the list of popular candidates for the role, if not near the top of it, so it wouldn't be too surprising to see him land it even though he has some stiff competition.
