Nvidia GeForce RTX 3090 Graphics Card Leak Hints at Huge Performance Increase
A new leak for Nvidia's upcoming RTX 3090 may have given players an idea of exactly how powerful the new graphics card is going to be, specifically when running players' favorite games. This new power comes in the form of an incredible performance boost that will surely be useful once games start switching over to more powerful graphic capabilities like ray-tracing and Unreal Engine 5.
The latest leak comes courtesy of prolific leaker, KatCorgi, who shared their experience on Twitter to boast at the incredible performance boost in Nvidia's upcoming graphics card. These Nvidia leaks are of course nothing new, and while many tend to exaggerate the length to which these improvements might be pushing graphics cards, KatCorgi has a slightly more quantifiable example of the RTX 3090's abilities.
According to KatCorgi, the RTX 3090 was able to register a 50% in performance with Time Spy Extreme, a benchmark testing software for measuring hardware graphical capabilities. This increase is based on the RTX 2080 Ti, a graphics card that is able to run at 94 fps at 4K according to previous benchmark tests. As a result, it could be possible that the RTX 3090 may be able to run over 130fps at 4K, soaring it above the competition by miles in terms of performance power.
What's even more impressive, is that this is significantly higher than KatCorgi previously revealed for RTX 3080, which was reported to only give a 20% performance boost. Between the RTX 3080 and 3090, the RTX 30 series is looking to pass the RTX 20 series in the dust when it finally releases, offering a much higher graphic fidelity at an even higher frame rate. There is, however, little news on what this could mean for the future of 8K, but with the technology not having hit the mass market yet, it's likely that Nvidia will keep its attention towards 4K and lower.
Considering how important frame-rates and resolution have become in the PC gaming sphere, certainly outpacing current-gen consoles, the RTX 30 series is starting to look more and more like a must-have. Combining that with systems like the Xbox Series X not pushing 60fps minimum limits on developers, and it looks like homemade rigs have a fairly good chance of keeping up with consoles in the next generation. Although, that will certainly come with a fairly hefty price tag for excited players, to not just purchase, but properly integrate the RTX 3090 without bottlenecking down the line.
