Rumor: Halo Infinite Multiplayer Will Be Shown in August
Xbox fans finally got their first glimpse of Halo Infinite gameplay in July. The gameplay debut during the recent Xbox Games Showcase wasn't without its criticisms, but excitement is clearly building for the 2020 first-person shooter. Now Microsoft and 343 Interactive just have to show the other half of Halo Infinite. Any plans for Halo Infinite's multiplayer have largely remained secret so far. But according to one source, it sounds like Halo Infinite's multiplayer may be shown as quickly as August.
The rumor stems from Twitter user Timdog, who is well known for sharing presumed insider information about Xbox's plans and products. To be fair, Timdog isn't wholly reliable, but as a rumor, his comment is certainly worth acknowledging. Timdog responded to a message on Twitter saying in which the poster said they hope 343 will share multiplayer details in August. Timdog's response was, "They will."
It bears repeating that Microsoft and 343 Industries have not officially announced any plans to reveal Halo Infinite's multiplayer as of yet. Microsoft hasn't confirmed that it will be holding an event in August yet, either. But with Halo Infinite slated to launch this holiday, it seems very likely news about multiplayer will be shared sooner rather than later.
There's also the fact that Xbox boss Phil Spencer was recently quoted as saying that Xbox will be sharing more news in August, possibly. It's not an official announcement of any kind and Spencer doesn't seem entirely certain, but it does open the window for more Halo news next month.
Perhaps most importantly, Xbox is confirmed to be participating in one event. It's not an Xbox event and Microsoft hasn't confirmed its participation itself, though. It's Gamescom 2020's digital convention. Gamescom recently published a list of partners involved with the event and Xbox was included. If Microsoft wanted to showcase Halo Infinite again outside of its own event, Gamescom 2020 would be a great opportunity.
Outside of Gamescom, Microsoft would have to announce its own separate event if it's planning on showing Halo Infinite during August. July's even was confirmed in the early days of June, so any potential August Xbox Games Showcase would likely be announced in a similar fashion. If Halo Infinite will be showcased in August, whether multiplayer is shown or not, news will likely be shared in the next week or two. Stay tuned.
