Shovel Knight Developer Working on 3D Project | Game Rant
Since its release back in June of 2014, Shovel Knight has become a household name when it comes to video game culture. Shovel Knight is considered by many to be one of the greatest indie games of all time. Now, after six years, it seems that Yacht Club Games is now taking a giant leap forward in terms of its next title.
When it first launched, Shovel Knight became a gaming icon practically overnight. The tight controls, ingenious level design, and the classic NES era art design left an incredibly strong impact on anyone who played it. In the years following the main game's release, Shovel Knight would see numerous additional DLC campaigns added on for free, each one equal in quality.
In addition to the DLC campaigns, Yacht Club Games has included numerous different pieces of content across every version of Shovel Knight, such as the inclusion Kratos from God of War on the PlayStation version of the game. Though, now it seems that Yacht Club Games will be experimenting with a new kind of game.
Thanks to information discovered via a job listing, it seems that Yacht Club Games will be developing a 3-D game. The exact details of the game itself were not mentioned or clarified, but right now it seems this new game has nothing to do with Shovel Knight. However, the developers also assured fans that they would continue to work on Shovel Knight related content.
Right now, there's no way of knowing what this new game will be or what it will entail. Though, what remains evident is that Yacht Club Games is continuing to experiment with new concepts and game ideas. The company's upcoming title Cyber Shadow is a perfect example of this notion. With any luck, this 3-D game will be sure to impress fans of the game studio.
In the meantime, Yacht Club Games will continue to work on Shovel Knight related content, such as Shovel Knight Dig and Shovel Knight Pocket Dungeon. In case fans were concerned that this new 3-D game will disrupt the ongoing creation of additional Shovel Knight content, that thankfully does not appear to be the case. Only time will tell if Yacht Club Games' new titles will deliver in the same way as Shovel Knight.
Shovel Knight is available now for PC, Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS3, PS Vita, Xbox One, Nintendo 3DS, and Wii U.
