The battle royale genre has a fairly standard formula but it is not uncommon for games like Call of Duty: Warzone to want to shake things up. After plunder's successful run in the playlist, fans are left fantasizing about what could be the next Warzone game mode.
One fan has taken their fantasy to the next level and invented an entire limited-time mode for Warzone. Like plunder, this mode will revolve around money but success will still go to the most skilled player in the lobby.
Cash is King is the invention of Warzone fan KoderYT on Reddit. The idea is similar to Warzone's plunder game mode as everything will come down to the money in a character's pocket. As players gather cash around the map and from other players through elimination, the circle will slowly drain money from everyone in the match. Players can buy emergency gear by going into debt, but if they gain a debt of $6000 they will simply die. Cash drains by $500 every 30 seconds to a minute
The idea was well-received in the comments below the post. Players point out that the game would need to guarantee money on every kill. Otherwise, players would slowly drain and not have a way to sustain themselves throughout the match. It is almost like Plunder's cash system with an elimination mode built into the background.
One interesting suggestion is that in the final circle the game could close the death by the debt system. This would guarantee that players can't just hide until the game is over and must fight it out in the last circle. Players tend to be campy if it can lead to victory, so this suggestion has some serious merit.
Plunder, although successful, was not without its faults. Many fans simply prefer to have access to the full battle royale mode and do not care much for the variants. Although an interesting distraction, it can become overbearing if forced upon game communities and would most likely not replace the fan's love of Plunder. Cash is King is an interesting Warzone suggestion, but it would only function as a side attraction to the main game.
