Zelda: Breath of the Wild No Damage Run Fails 39 Hours In

Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is an expansive world that allows players to journey through the game in whatever way they want while they complete as much or as little of the landscape on their way to defeating Ganon. Some players take advantage of this flexibility to give themselves challenges while playing the game, but one player fell short of his intended target in a devastating way.

Many Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild players have taken interesting challenges by trying to beat the game using only a horse to damage opponents or speedrun the game within a certain time limit. While some of these challenges are doable, they can be extremely difficult. One Twitch streamer attempted a particularly difficult challenge and didn't finish his run in the way he had hoped.

A speedrunner by the Twitch name SpecsNStats attempted a particularly difficult run of Breath of the Wild. He was attempting to fully complete the game — a task challenging enough in its own right with all of the shrines and korok seeds that are available— but on top of that, he wanted to do it all without taking any damage. The streamer had nearly completed the game before tragedy struck.

The Twitch streamer was on his way to the last uncompleted shrine when the run came to an end. He went into his map to teleport to the last remaining shrine, but instead of transporting to that location, he accidentally places a sticker. Expecting to teleport, he backs out of the map screen and isn't prepared for the Stalkoblin that snuck up behind him to end his run with a single hit. The video shows SpecsNStats silently processing the failure of his run after putting 39 hours into this playthrough of the game.

While it is sad to see such an admirable attempt unfulfilled in the end, SpecsNStats will likely be at it again with another run soon. In the future, he may be able to do it with this game, or he may be able to get through this challenge when Breath of the Wild 2 is finally released to fans.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is available now for Switch.
