5 Most Annoying Villagers in Animal Crossing: New Horizons
Animal Crossing: New Horizons continues to make strides for Nintendo. Several days ago, Nintendo happily announced that Animal Crossing: New Horizons was able to sell a whopping 22 million units during its short time of existence. As a reference, the game was just released last March, which makes this sales record a definite win for Nintendo and the Animal Crossing franchise.
Of course, much of Animal Crossing: New Horizons' appeal comes from the adorable set of villagers that players would have to live with on their deserted islands. Animal Crossing: New Horizons features 400 potential villagers in the game, but only 10 of them could live on the island at any given time. Given this limitation, some players have been extremely picky when it comes to selecting villagers, especially since there are a handful of characters out there that are downright annoying. Now, for players who are looking for which villagers to avoid, here are the five most annoying villagers in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.
Headlining the list of annoying villagers in Animal Crossing: New Horizons is the snooty elephant villager Eloise. Normally, snooty villagers are somewhat popular among Animal Crossing fans due to the drama that they usually cause in the village. However, for some weird reason, Eloise doesn't sit well with most players especially after some nasty encounters with the elephant. In one specific encounter, a player approached Eloise hurling passive-aggressive insults to a villager. When the player joined in the conversation, Eloise began insulting the player, which is not uncommon due to her personality type.
Another villager that annoys players in Animal Crossing: New Horizons is the rat villager Rodney. Several Animal Crossing players call Rodney a "tiny little arrogant demon." At the moment, it is unclear why players hate Rodney, but many suspect that it's because of his smug personality combined with his lackluster appearance. Interestingly enough, the hate for Rodney prompted some players to start a subreddit dedicated to hating him.
Barold is a lazy cub villager and is mostly known for his "weird beard." Of course, his appearance and lazy lifestyle are probably the reasons why so many people hate Barold. However, it is also worth knowing that Barold has a creepy side as well. When visiting his house in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, players will be shocked to see that his dwelling contains a huge wall of security monitors, which seems to suggest that he is spying on everyone else on the island. Of course, this raises red flags to some players, which is why many prefer not to have Barold on their island at all.
Unfortunately, it appears that hatred towards the gorilla villager Rocket is mostly aesthetic. She has a sisterly personality, which means that she doesn't try to offend people the way snooty and cranky villagers do. However, there is a tendency for sisterly villagers to be overprotective of the players, which may rub off the nose of some players. Now, it appears that players are annoyed with Rocket due to the way she dresses. By default, Rocket's outfit is a pink racing suit combined with pink lipstick. This outfit is probably too loud for some players, especially when combined with her catchphrase "vroom."
Although bear villager Paula is not as hated as the previous two, a lot of players still do not want her on their islands. One of the primary reasons why people dislike Paula is because of her sisterly personality. To the uninitiated, sisterly villagers are caring towards the player but can sometimes be blunt and straightforward. However, there are times that sisterly villagers will be overprotective of the player, which is probably why some people don't get along with Paula in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Of course, while she may not be a crowd favorite, it is worth knowing that Paula is probably the least annoying villager in this list.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons is out now exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
