Apex Legends: Season 6's 10 Biggest Changes & Updates | Game Rant
With Apex Legend's sixth season dropping, there are a few things that players are going to need to get used to. There are the standard weapon and legend buffs, battle pass changes, and new weapons that we have all become used to for each new season, but there are also some much larger changes that might catch some people off guard, as well.
There have been map changes, an overhaul of the armor system, a new legend for the defense class, and even a whole new crafting system to help players who have missed out on some of the better loot. With so many new changes, it can be hard to comprehend, and that's why we've put together a list of the 10 of the biggest changes that Apex Legends has made in season six!
10 Map Changes
We aren't getting a completely new map this season as we did back in season four, but, continuing the ongoing story of Apex Legends/TitanFall, Hammond Industries continues to influence the world more and more, and new locations have been introduced including Launch Site, which takes the place of the old lava field close to The Dome. The Drill Site has now be replaced by Countdown, and a new area called Staging has also been added. Each of these new areas includes rising blast walls, which the players can trigger to rise and fortify their position.
9 New Weapon
Among the new additions to the game is the Volt submachine gun. Like most guns in Apex Legends, this weapon is one that can be seen in the Titanfall series, and it seems to perform in a similar way to what we have seen before.
The Volt is the first energy-based SMG that we have gotten in Apex Legends, possibly making it the longest range SMG that we have seen in the game. Despite its range, like most SMGs, this weapon is best suited for close to medium range encounters, and its shots can give away your position at long range.
8 Loot Changes
Whats a battle royale game without loot? Pretty boring, if you ask us. This new season of Apex Legends gives a few changes to the loot system for a few different items. Snipers rejoice, as you are going to be able to carry more ammunition and get more ammo per drop for any one of your favorite rifles.
Sniper ammo now has increased pick up from 8 to 12 and ammo can stack for more now from 16 to 24. Energy ammo has been reduced, though, as ammo picked up for energy has gone fro 30 down to 20.
7 Armor System Changes
The armor system is going through some fairly significant changes in this new season. All armor except for gold armor is now Evo armor. This means that you can evolve any white, blue, or purple armor that you find on the ground. Red armor can't be found on the ground and can only be gained through level other armors. Every player will also now spawn with level zero Evo armor, and, if a player is able to do damage fast enough in the early parts of the match, they will automatically level their armor to white.
6 Holo-Sprays
Sprays are some of the biggest ways a player can flex on their opponents in any game. Having a unique spray is a great way to let your opponents know what's up, especially in a battle royale game where they might not know how recently something was sprayed. Plus, a lot of them just look pretty cool.
It seems that the developers at Respawn Entertainment agree, and now the feature has been added to Apex Legends with its own spin. Instead of spray on a wall, you have the ability to project a hologram-like image.
5 Battle Pass
With every new season comes a new Battle pass for players to sink their teeth into, and this season is no exception. This season's Battle Pass includes the reactive Supersonic G7, Bloodhound Road Warrior, five new holo sprays, new skydive emotes, and weapon charms.
Those more fortunate gamers who are able to buy the premium Battle Pass will immediately the Legendary Rollcage Sentinel skin and three new rare skins for the Legends of the game including speed Pathfinder and the previously mentioned Bloodhound skin.
4 Weapon Updates
Like with every new season, season six has introduced a few changes to the game's weapons to balance them out. The Charge Rifle will now use two ammo per shot, but it also has an increased magazine size of eight. The Hemlock has reduced recoil in burst mode, and the time between bursts has been reduced.
The Triple Take has been buffed to have a slightly increased fire rate and a higher magazine size all around, and the Choke hop has now been built into the weapon and can be toggled on and off. Finally, everyone's favorite shotgun, the Mozambique, has had its ammo increased to four.
3 Recon Buffs
The Recon class has also received a few changes. First, now all recon legends can use survey beacons to locate the placement of the next ring. To counteract this indirect nerf to Pathfinder, whenever he uses a survey beacon the cooldown on his ultimate is reduced. Bloodhound's ultimate now gets extended for each kill they get while using it, and using their normal ability while in ultimate now makes it come out faster and have a shorter cooldown.
Crypto can now use respawn beacons with his drone instantly. The drone now has a larger hitbox, but also more HP to compensate.
2 Crafting System
One of the biggest additions that Apex Legends has made in season six is the addition of a crafting system. This system was designed to help those who have had pretty bad RnG. To make use of this new system, players will need to find crafting materials from loot bins or material stations then take them to replicators.
Once you have collected enough materials, you will be able to make different loot. Craftable loot will change either on a weekly or daily basis depending on the item, but players will always be able to see what is craftable from the map screen or game selector.
1 Rampart
The biggest addition that Apex Legend has had in season six—and that's really saying something—is the addition of the new legend, Rampart. Rampart is a 21-year-old British-Indian who is built around LMGs and high rates of fire. She is a defensive legend, but she might be the most offensive of the defensive legends.
Rampart's passive lets her carry more ammo for and reload LMGs and miniguns faster. Her tactical build a couch cover wall that can deploy a standing cover wall, and she can have five up at a time. Her ultimate spawns a Minigun that her whole team can use, and she can have three up at a time.
