Almost every aspect of the game is worth a mention, simply because of their story arch. But there are a few that stand apart, especially for their role concerning the player.

Throughout the game, players meet these characters in exciting areas, chasing their own goals. These characters have unique aspects that make the players relate to them. Whether its the story of Sif or the passion of Solaire. But how does one know which character they relate to the most? Let's find that out with the magic of Chinese Zodiac.

12 Rat: Siegmeyer of Catarina

Siegmeyer of Catarina, also known as the onion knight, is an extraordinary character in Dark Souls. The armor of this character makes him stand apart from most of the other characters on the list. He looks cute in his curvy armor and a helmet that resembles an onion or the head of a Baby Chao. According to the Zodiac, he should be a rat, as he is resourceful and kind, which are traits of the mentioned animal. Players first encounter him near the Sen's Fortress.

11 Ox: Gwyn, Lord of Cinder

Gwyn Lord of Cinder is the final boss of Dark Souls. He is not a character that players encounter throughout the game but remains very important to the story. Gwyn is the greatest of all the gods in the lore of Dark Souls. He is also the character responsible for the main story of the game. He belongs to the Ox family from the list of Chinese Zodiac. That is mostly because of similar traits that involve strength and determination. He is also diligent, knowing how he single-handedly craved the plot of Dark Souls following his own choices.

10 Tiger: Alvina of the Darkroot Wood

Alvina of the Darkroot Wood is a cute fluffy cat sitting in a window in the Darkroot Garden. But as sweet as she looks, her personality is completely opposite. Alvina is the one that allows the players to join the Forest Hunter covenant, and she also gifts the Cat Covenant Ring once joined. She is clearly a Feline, and so is her Chinese Zodiac animal. Interestingly her main traits are pretty similar to that of a tiger. She is known to be brave and confident, converting players to her covenant and carrying magical items such as the ring of fog and divine blessing.

9 Rabbit: Anastacia of Astora

Astora is mentioned a lot throughout the story of Dark Souls. As many other characters belong to the place, and the same goes for Anastacia. She is an essential NPC in the world of the game, allowing players to kindle bonfires and upgrade the Estus flask.

Both of these are very important to the player. Anastacia is a rabbit when it comes to her character traits, as she is quiet and elegant. On top, even after her sufferings, she helps the players showing kindness and responsibility, something that suits a rabbit.

8 Dragon: Knight Artorias

Knight Artorias is probably the most talked-about character of the game, other than Solaire. He is one of the four central knights of Lord Gwyn and was later corrupted by the Abyss. He is also the main boss of a DLC dedicated to him. From the list of animals in Chinese Zodiac, he belongs to the Dragon family. That is mainly because of how his personality before he got corrupted. Dragons are known to be enthusiastic and intelligent, which is pretty similar to Artorias. On top, He is also very confident because being a part of the top four knights of Lord Gywn can't be easy.

7 Snake: Kingseeker Frampt

Kingseeker Frampt is one of the critical characters of the game, directing players towards their goals. He is also one of the closest friends to the Lord Gywn. His appearance is somewhat odd, as he looks like a snake with a human face. Frampt is known to help the players progress by allowing them to travel to Firelink Altar. He belongs to the Snake Zodiac sign. Snakes are known to be wise and intelligent, both of which are the main traits of Kingseeker Frampt. He is also pretty enigmatic.

6 Horse: Solaire of Astora

Solaire of Astora has to be the most popular character of Dark Souls. The reason he is so popular is because of his helpful nature and jolly cooperation. Players will continuously come across Solaire throughout the undead land and utilize his help to beat bosses. Solaire has to be one of the most helpful and most passionate characters in the game. This is what makes him a Horse, who is known to be active and energetic people. He is also very keen on animated gestures.

5 Goat: Princess Gwynevere

From the first glare, Princess Gwynevere seems like the most beautiful and serene character in the game. However, she is just an illusion created by Gwyndolin. But that doesn't stop her from being one of the most popular Dark Souls characters. The real Gwynevere is known to have married Flann, the god of flame.

From whatever presence she has in the game, she can be described as calm and gentle, which is something that is a significant trait of Goat Zodiac sign. She is also known as the Queen of Sunlight.

4 Monkey: Havel the Rock

Havel the Rock is one of the most memorable and unique enemies in the game. He is wearing a colossal armor, always looking for a challenge and proving himself to be the best, especially against  Seath the Scaleless. He is known to hate magic and sorcery, which explains his vast physical shield and weapon. He also had a taste in miracles. He belongs to the Zodiac Sign Monkey. Before turning hollow, he was a man that can be described as curious, smart, and powerful. He was also pretty sharp, for building a defensive miracle to counter Seath's magic.

3 Rooster: Andre of Astora

Andre of Astora is easily the most popular blacksmith in the game. This is because he is always there to help the players upgrade or repair their weapons and fight enemies with ease. He is consistently seen working hard on his creations, hamming metal in the way towards the woods. He belongs to the Rooster Zodiac sign because of his character traits. Andre is known to observant and hardworking, the two critical features of a Rooster. Also, the fact he sits so close to danger makes him courageous.

2 Dog: Sif, The Great Grey Wolf

Sif, The Great Grey Wolf, is the partner of Knight Artorias. He is also the guardian of Artorias's grave, stopping everyone who tries to cross paths. His story in the game is tragic, and almost everyone relates to a furry friend if they had one. Sif, also has style, as he holds a sword in his mouth to defend the grave. This makes it evident for him to be a Dog. People with Zodiac are known to be lovely, honest, and prudent. That is everything Sif was in his lifetime.

1 Pig: Oscar of Astora

Not many people will remember Oscar; after all, he is the first NPC that players encounter in Dark Souls. Oscar of Astora dies under the glare of sunlight after helping the player out, literally setting the whole game in motion. He is also the character that gives players the Estus Flask. He belongs to the Pig Zodiac type. As his character traits very close match to that of a pig type. He is compassionate, generous, and diligent. After all, upon not being able to continue his mission, he still frees the player.
