Doom Eternal Campaign DLC to Be Showcased at Gamescom Opening Night Live
Id Software has been surprisingly silent regarding Doom Eternal's post-launch content in recent months. The Ancient Gods was first teased all the way back in May when id shared two screenshots. Now, months later, following a very short teaser in early August, id's ready to move forward. Saturday afternoon, Gamescom Opening Night Live host Geoff Keighley announced that Doom Eternal's The Ancient Gods, Part One will be showcased for the very first time during the digital event.
Keighley describes the debut as a "world premiere first look," so it's likely to be a short cinematic trailer for the upcoming Doom Eternal DLC. The two-hour Gamescom Opening Night Live event may sound like plenty of time for an extended look at The Ancient Gods, Part One, but that's not the case. Gamescom ONL will be featuring 38 different games during those two hours. It's packed to the brim.
That doesn't mean that extended footage of Doom Eternal's DLC isn't coming soon, however. In fact, it's probably to be expected that more footage is coming quickly. Gamescom ONL is just the start of Gamescom's plans. Following ONL, there will be three more days of game reveals, interviews, and more. Bethesda is already confirmed to be one of Gamescom's partners during these three days, too.
Regardless of what's shown during Gamescom ONL, or how much is shown, one specific detail will be the focus of fans. That being whether Bethesda will be announcing the release date of The Ancient Gods, Part One. It's been five months since Doom Eternal launched and players are hungry for more, so it'll be interesting to see if Bethesda delivers.
Doom Eternal is available now on PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One, with plans for PS5, Switch, and Xbox Series X in the future.
