How to Catch a Ray in Animal Crossing: New Horizons | Game Rant
For players wanting to continue their fish-catching endeavors, here is a quick guide to help players find one of the more elusive fish in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, the ray.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons is often praised for offering players a plethora of relaxing and engaging activities, such as the recent implementation of Dream Islands. One of the many things players enjoy doing is catching all of the available fish to sell or show off in their museum.
While there are plenty of spots to catch new fish in Animal Crossing, some are still harder to find than others and require prior knowledge for players to efficiently spend their time catching them. The same can be said of the ray.
The Ray is a large shadow-sized fish, so players should keep that in mind when searching if they don't want to waste their time with smaller shadow sizes. It isn't a necessity to avoid smaller shadow sizes, but it will be tedious to deal with smaller fish when players have to work around the vast numbers of sea bass and flounder that can pop up. They can be most commonly found near the pier, not including the bridge leading to the Animal Crossing airport, and everywhere else in the ocean surrounding the island.
Rays are also only available for certain times and seasonal months in Animal Crossing. For players located in the northern hemisphere, Rays are available from August to November from 4 am to 9 pm. For players living in the southern hemisphere, Rays can only be found from February to May from 4 pm to 9 am.
At the end of the day, it is truly a game of chance when it comes to catching rarer fish in Animal Crossing. Persistence is vital, but with a selling price of 3,000 bells, this gives players more of an incentive to capture the valuable fish in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Another tip for players not wanting to waste too much time is to craft some fish bait, throw it into the ocean, and target the specific large-sized fish that pop up.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons is available now exclusively on Nintendo Switch.
