Local Multiplayer Battler Boomerang Fu Launches | Game Rant
Those craving an intense competitive local multiplayer indie game have a perfect option launching today. Boomerang Fu delivers crazy 6-player action in which competitors use melee action and awesome items like explosive boomerangs to defeat their enemies. Interested gamers can pick up Boomerang Fu on PC, Switch, and Xbox One starting today.
The key idea behind Boomerang Fu's top-down gameplay is lighting fast action and rounds. Players will pick their food avatar, whether it be a banana, sushi, avocado, or something else, and jump right into the action. Players start with a boomerang that can slice and dice their opponents, but it has interesting movement patterns and can be deflected away. Players can also pick up powerups that can do things like freeze their opponent or teleport the player to a new location. The variety of interactions is huge, making every quick match unique in exciting ways.
But in order to play, players are going to have to get their friends or family to group up, which isn't an easy task during the ongoing pandemic. This is a couch-multiplayer exclusive game, so six players have to be in the same room with their own controllers to play. There is no online multiplayer, and even multiple Switches can't connect together. It's limited to one-system couch multiplayer.
Boomerang Fu absolutely has its work cut out for it. It's a beautiful looking game with awesome-looking gameplay, but launching a local multiplayer game in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic is a challenge, to say the least. Boomerang Fu does have bots that can be played against in lieu of other players, though. Otherwise, players may be waiting for a party where they can celebrate having parties again to play.
Boomerang Fu is available now on PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
