Mario Kart Tour Adding New Content in Update | Game Rant
Nintendo's mobile games are apparently taking to the high seas this month. Fire Emblem Heroes recently added pirate-themed characters, and now Mario Kart Tour has released new content featuring Bowser Jr. with a pirate hat and eyepatch, as well as returning Super Mario 64 boss King Bob-Omb.
The "Pirate Tour" lasts until August 25, spotlighting Bowser Jr. with a Bob-omb canon item the first week, and King Bob-Omb with a Giga Bob-omb item the second. Both racers are being added alongside a new kart and glider, while Mario Kart Tour is featuring a revamped version of the Airship Fortress map from Mario Kart DS through this limited-time event.
Players can receive Dry Bones as a racer, the Bullet Blaster kart, and the Piston glider by completing each set in this tour, with those who have Gold Pass subscriptions also able to access four additional customization items, according to Nintendo. Mario Kart Tour received a landscape orientation feature in July, so anyone interested in revisiting the Airship Fortress track can do so with a new perspective.
Though Mario Kart Tour is no stranger to characters in themed outfits, such as Cowboy Wario from the "Wild West Tour," it is interesting to see the addition of pirates coincide with Fire Emblem Heroes. Perhaps fans of Nintendo's mobile offerings can expect to see a pirate in Dr. Mario World sometime soon, but for now the return of King Bob-Omb from Mario 64 is a welcome surprise.
Mario Kart Tour is available now on Mobile.
