Pokemon GO: Every Upcoming Event for September 2020 | Game Rant
August is coming to a close, leaving many events behind in Pokemon GO. Fortunately, there are plenty of events that will be arriving throughout the month of September for 2020. These events include the Community Day where the subject was recently voted on my players as well as the return of many Legendary Pokemon.
There are currently thirteen events planned for Pokemon GO in September. Each of these will be available for a limited time only, so players are recommended to complete the tasks involved with the events as quickly as they can.
Some of the upcoming events are expected each month, such as the monthly research breakthrough and the Community Day. Others include changes to raid Pokemon such as the current Heatran raids available as of now.
The research breakthrough encounter for September of 2020 will be Alolan Raichu. Players will also earn a guaranteed 5000 Stardust for completing a research breakthrough.
Players can achieve a research breakthrough by completing 7 field research tasks over the course of 7 days with at least 1 task being completed over the 7 days. These days do not have to be in a row.
This change to the breakthrough encounter will happen on Tuesday, September 1st at 4:00 pm EDT.
The next event to come in September is the Eevee Spotlight Hour. It will also begin and end on September 1st, 2020. This event will run from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm in players' local times.
During the Eevee Spotlight Hour, the spawn rates of Eevee will increase dramatically and provide 2x the Catch XP. This will also make it easier for players to find and catch a shiny Eevee among all of the normal Eevee out there.
Starting on September 7th, 2020 at 4:00 pm EDT, all leagues in Season 3 of the GO Battle League will be open. This will include the Great League (Max CP of 1,500), Ultra League (Max CP of 2,500), and Master League (No CP limit). The Premier League will also be available for all players.
This will only be open from September 7th, 2020 to September 14th, 2020.
The Houndour Spotlight Hour event will be taking place on Tuesday, September 8, 2020, at 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm in players' local times. This event functions the same as the aforementioned Eevee Spotlight Hour event except that it will be focused on the dual dark and fire-type Pokemon, Houndour.
The pure psychic-type Pokemon Cresselia will be returning as a raid boss on September 10th, 2020, at 4:00 pm EDT. She will remain a possible raid boss until September 18th, 2020, at 4:00 pm EDT.
Cresselia is a Legendary Pokemon and is very capable of serving as a tank during both PVP and raid battles. The best move set it can have that provides the highest possible DPS normally is Confusion and Future Sight.
The Tentacool Spotlight Hour event will occur on September 15th, 2020. It will run from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm in players' local times, and will function the same as the previously mentioned Spotlight Hour events, except that it will star Tentacool.
Tentacool is a dual water and poison-type Pokemon that can evolve into Tentacruel. This can be done if a player feeds a Tentacool 50 Tentacool candies.
The Legendary Pokemon Articuno will be returning to 5-Star raids starting September 18th, 2020. Articuno is a dual flying and ice-type Pokemon with its best moveset having it know Frost Breath and Ice Beam.
This Pokemon will only be available in raids up until September 25th, 2020.
The subject of September's Community Day was recently voted on by Pokemon fans, with Porygon being the winner for September. Porygon's special day will be on September 20th, 2020, and will be running from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm in players' local times.
This event will likely include special research tasks as well as allow players to have a Porygon-Z that knows the move, Tri-Attack. This will be the move's first time being in Pokemon GO and players will need to evolve Porygon into Porygon2 before evolving Porygon2 into Porygon-Z in order to obtain it.
In addition, Porygon, Porygon2, and Porygon-Z will all have their shiny forms added to Pokemon GO for this event, allowing players to find a new shiny for their collections.
September's second to last Spotlight Hour event will be occurring on September 22, 2020. It will be running from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm in players' local times.
This event stars Spearow, a dual normal and flying-type Pokemon. It can evolve into Fearow if it is fed 50 Spearow candies.
On September 24, 2020, the GO Battle Night event will be taking place in Pokemon GO. This event will be running from 6:00 pm to 11:59 pm in players' local times.
During this event, players will get twice the usual stardust from the GO Battle League. Players will additionally be able to complete 20 sets of battle in the GO Battle League for a total of up to 100 battles.
Starting on an unknown date at the end of the month will be the Victini Special Research tasks. This series of tasks will be known as "Investigate a Mysterious Energy". These tasks have no deadline and will remain available for all players until they are completed.
Players who complete these tasks will be able to catch the Legendary dual psychic and fire-type Pokemon, Victini. These tasks function the same as the tasks required to catch Mew, Celebi, and Jirachi. Those who have already caught Victini during Pokemon GO Fest 2020 will be able to earn Victini candies from these tasks instead.
Like with Cresselia and Articuno, Zapdos will be returning to 5-Star raids in Pokemon GO. This will happen on September 25th, 2020, and end on October 2nd, 2020 at 4:00 pm EDT.
