Summoners War: Sky Arena Crossing Over With Street Fighter 5
It's not unusual to see fighting game franchises cross over with various titles, either featuring characters from other games like Samurai Shodown adding Honor of Kings' GongSun Li this month, or having characters appear in other series like Ryu and Ken taking part in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. The mobile turn-based strategy game Summoners War: Sky Arena announced it will be adding multiple characters from Street Fighter 5 in a major event starting tomorrow.
Ryu, Ken, M. Bison, Chun-Li, and Dhalsim from Capcom's popular series will appear in Com2uS' mobile game, with Ken being offered as a free bonus to anyone who plays before November 1, according to the crossover trailer released for Gamescom 2020 yesterday. This comes following the announcement that Street Fighter 5 is adding four new DLC characters through fall 2021 for its fifth season of content.
Summoners War: Sky Arena released in 2014 and has been a major success for the South Korean developer, having raised over $2 billion in lifetime revenue as of August 11, according to Pocket Gamer. With that kind of success, it's easy to see how it would have the reach to intermingle with titles like Street Fighter 5.
This weekend has seen many different games take the spotlight as part of Gamescom, from AAA titles like Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War to indies like Cris Tales. Other crossovers have been announced as well, such as a new version of Bridge Constructor with The Walking Dead characters revealed during Gamescom's Opening Night Live.
Summoners War: Sky Arena is available now on Android and iOS devices.
