Takeshi and Hiroshi Releasing for Switch Today | Game Rant
It’s a pretty good day for Nintendo Switch owners looking for some new games to play. Amid the Switch titles highlighted during this morning’s Nintendo Indie World Showcase, there were quite a few that have been made available today, and this includes the charming-looking Takeshi and Hiroshi.
This indie RPG from Oink Games has probably flown under most people’s radars, due to it being an Apple Arcade exclusive since last year, but now that it’s on the Switch, a lot more players can now experience the game’s mix of RPG gameplay and a story told through puppet-based stop-motion animation.
Takeshi and Hiroshi places players in the role of Takeshi, a young aspiring game designer trying to create a game for his little brother Hiroshi, who’s dealing with health issues that can leave him hospitalized. The main objective here is for players to balance Takeshi’s game, a 2D turn-based fantasy RPG, in order to provide Hiroshi with a fun, but not too difficult, challenge. This is done by choosing which monsters appear during combat, a task that becomes more challenging as the difficulty gradually rises.
Ultimately, the gameplay is in service of leading players through the brothers’ lives, following Takeshi’s struggles with game design and Hiroshi’s struggles with his health. It’s the kind of story that’s bound to tug on someone’s heartstrings, and the way it’s told makes for one of the more heartfelt games that can be played on the Switch starting today.
Takeshi and Hiroshi is available for iOS and Switch.
