The Last of Us 2 Will Add Permadeath and Grounded Difficulty Options
The Trophy list for The Last of Us Part 2 has been updated and now includes two new trophies referencing additional difficulty settings: Grounded and Permadeath. The Last of Us Part 2 appears to be adding two additional settings in the near future based on these two new trophies. Permadeath, or permanent death, is pretty self-explanatory meaning players will likely only have one life throughout the whole game. Permadeath modes for other titles typically mean players must start again from the beginning if they die a single time. Grounded was an ultra-high difficulty mode that tripled enemy damage, removed the HUD and “listen” ability, and pretty much stripped the world of supplies. Grounded and Permadeath appear to be hardcore features for players who might enjoy an added bit of challenge. The inclusion of these two trophies suggests Grounded and Permadeath will be added to The Last of Us 2 at some point, though it’s unclear exactly when. On top of multiple difficulty settings, The Last of Us 2 features various accessibility settings, so much so that there are too many to list. But some highlights include Enhanced Listen MOde, Skip Puzzle options, various subtitle options, and combat adjustments.
