When Can You Watch Mulan Without Paying the Premium Fee?
UPDATE, Aug. 29: If you're an existing Disney+ subscriber who doesn't want to pay the additional $29.99 to watch Mulan when it debuts September 4 then you can just wait three months to watch it without the premium fee. Screen Rant points out that the Disney+ pre-order page for Mulan reveals the film will become available to all subscribers on December 4. So, basically, for "free" (on top of the base $6.99 streaming subscription).

[poilib element="accentDivider"] Disney announced during an investors call Tuesday that they will forego a domestic theatrical release of their live-action retelling of Mulan in favor of a digital debut on Disney+ on September 4, 2020. Internationally, the film will open in cinemas in regions that don't yet have Disney+. Mulan will premiere on Disney+ on September 4 for a premium price of $29.99. IGN understands that once Disney+ subscribers pay that premium fee for the film that it will remain in their library for the duration of their subscription to the streaming service. "We are announcing today that, in most Disney+ markets – including the U.S., Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and a number of countries in Western Europe – we will be offering Disney+ subscribers the epic adventure Mulan on Disney+ on a Premier Access basis beginning September 4," said Disney CEO Bob Chapek. "The price point will be $29.99 in the U.S., and will vary slightly in other countries. Simultaneously, we will be releasing the film theatrically in certain markets where we currently have no announced launch plans for Disney+ and where theaters are open." The release of Mulan had already been delayed several times this year due to the pandemic causing cinemas to close worldwide. The film was originally slated for a March 27 release before it was postponed to July 24 and then to August 21. It was even tracking to have the biggest domestic opening of 2020. That was then. There had been chatter for months that Mulan could bypass theaters in favor of a digital debut.
