Xbox Boss Phil Spencer to Appear on Animal Talking | Game Rant
Nintendo's Animal Crossing New Horizons continues to be a juggernaut for the Switch. In the company's recent financial report, it was revealed Animal Crossing has sold 22 million units since March, contributing to a huge increase in Nintendo's overall revenue. One interesting result of so many people owning the game is a successful late night talk show hosted by Rogue One screenwriter Gary Whitta, which will have Head of Xbox Phil Spencer next week.
Whitta announced Spencer alongside former Disney Channel actor Dylan Sprouse, who recently played Yozora in Kingdom Hearts 3's Re Mind DLC, as well as Grammy-winning singer and songwriter Lisa Loeb as a musical guest for next week's Animal Talking on Twitch. Though this line-up does not appear to mesh together, there will undoubtedly be a lot to talk about given the impending release of Microsoft's Xbox Series X.
In his announcement post on Twitter, Whitta said he is "still recovering" from this week's episode, which featured The Last of Us 2 actresses Laura Bailey and Ashley Johnson, alongside God of War director Cory Barlog. Animal Talking's scale has grown immensely in the short time it has been airing, with previous guests including Brie Larson, Kevin Smith, Danny Trejo, and more.
Projects like Sprouse's movie After We Collided, a romantic drama set to release this year based on a 2014 novel according to the Internet Movie Database (IMDb), will no doubt be topics of discussion during the talk show. However, with a guest like Spencer it seems impossible to escape the gravity of Microsoft's upcoming console, especially after many new titles were revealed during the Xbox Series X Games Showcase last month, including a reboot of the Fable franchise.
The closer it gets to a probable release window for the Xbox Series X and Sony's PlayStation 5, the more gamers are clamoring for any and all information they can get their hands on. Neither Microsoft nor Sony have discussed price points for their consoles, but recently Xbox confirmed that Xbox One controllers will work on the Xbox Series X.
Whether or not Spencer reveals anything huge during his video game talk show appearance with Sprouse and Loeb next week, it should still be interesting to watch. The fact that Animal Crossing: New Horizons has become a space where this kind of content can thrive is just one testament as to why the game has been so successful.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons is available now on Nintendo Switch.
