10 Best Side Quests In Kingdoms Of Amalur: Re-Reckoning
Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning, when it came out in February of 2012, was overshadowed by the action-adventure RPG giants of its time. That didn't stop it from becoming a classic. Although not that many people got the chance to play the game—compared to Skyrim or Fallout—those who did get the chance to play it were treated with a great game with decent RPG elements and fun combat.
Fast forward to 2020 and the gaming community is once again blessed with the presence of Kingdoms of Amalur via a remaster, aptly titled Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning. While the game didn't change much as a remaster, those who weren't able to play it before can do so now. Players can dive in the main quest or explore the vast world to check out the many side quests the game can offer.
10 Warsworn Quests
The Warsworn side quests are one of the many Factions quests players can stumble upon in the game. This particular faction quest starts off at the Gorthart Inn and approaching Ost Ordura. He will then task the players to assassinate the Krast Brothers. Once the players are able to do this, they will then be deemed worthy of joining the Warsworn faction as a Hireling and move forward with the rest of the faction quests.
The number of quests this faction can provide is pretty substantial and it is topped off by a decent story with a few challenges along the way. It is a good way to steer away from the main quest for a while, gain a few XP and gold, and have a fun experience.
9 Aron Excavations
The Aron Excavations side quest can be found at the Hollowlands and can be triggered when visiting the Aron Excavations Office. The quest is different in a way that you don't necessarily need to fend off a number of enemies, or travel to assassinate a particular target. Rather, all you need to do is upgrade the excavation mine and office 3 times and the quest should be completed.
This quest is not great for having a compelling storyline or fun challenge, but for what it can provide to the players. The reward for this quest is quite decent and what you have to do to get it is fairly simple. Once the quest is completed, players will be granted a few XP and a very handy skill book to boot.
8 House Of Ballads Quests
The House of Ballads quests start off with the Building Bridges side quest. Once this is done, the players can travel to the House of Ballads to meet the eccentric Summer Faes, a race of magical beings who are known for their valor and glory.
Once the player arrives at the House of Ballads, they can then approach Hallam The White, who will give out the task of slaying a Grave Thresh. Success on this quest will unlock a chain of events and will allow the players to earn a seat in the House of Ballads, all the while being treated with a decent storyline, fun challenges, and useful perks.
7 Webwood Quests
Webwood is not necessarily a quest, but rather an area in the game that is littered with interesting storylines and rewards. The first side quests players can encounter when arriving at the location is the A Tangled Web quest. Players will be greeted with a group of spiders that are terrorizing the townsfolk. After the player gets rid of the monsters, the quest can move forward.
The chain of events that lead up from here is a story that is harrowing, compelling, and quite honestly, very worth doing. Actions and decisions made during the early quests can have impacts later on, which makes for a more immersive and interesting storytelling.
6 House Of Sorrows Quests
The House of Sorrows is a faction consisting of Winter Faes that broke away from the Summer Faes. The house itself was formed by a Fae only known as the Weeping King who went on to preach worship dedicated to decay and decomposition.
During the present timeline of the game, the House of Sorrows is at war with a Tuatha named Saturnyn. It is the job of the Fateless to bring peace to the house and save the Winter Faes from extinction. This particular series of events is very useful to those who prefer playing through with a mage build. Aside from being presented with an interesting story, players will also receive a decent mage armor on these quests.
5 Scholia Arcana Quests
Should one wish to join the ranks of the Scholia Arcana faction, they must first pass a series of tests to determine whether or not they are worthy of being a member. While it takes a regular person years of training to pass one trial, the same cannot be said for the powerful Fateless One.
This faction can offer multiple quests that are very interesting, to say the least. Not to mention, playing along these quests can also provide the players with multiple helpful loots. Players will be able to go through a couple of atmospheric levels, battle with monsters, solve intricate puzzles, and discover interesting details about the faction and its history.
4 Paper Trail
The Paper Trail side quest offers no sophistication in regards to story, but it will force players to travel all around Adessa, see different locations, and slay different monsters to collect a couple of missing chapters out of the memoir of Galenum Hegem.
Completion of this quest will give the players a helpful skill book and a sizable XP. It's a fairly simple side quest. It's straightforward and it's perfect for those who enjoy a little bit of exploration. Players will be able to collect a number of tomes while doing this side quest, which they'll be able to trade for gold afterward.
3 Gravehal Quests
The Gravehal faction is accessible via the Legend of Dead Kel DLC. An already dead faction, the Fateless—at the discovery of the Gravehal Keep—set out to restore the faction to its former glory with the help of a gnome named Padrig Dower.
The quests associated with this faction tells quite a compelling narrative about descent and the yearning for glory. Padrig Dower, the NPC tied to this story is almost like the outlet to which these elements are sourced. The players will be able to face a couple of formidable enemies while doing these quests. Level restoration is also quite prominent here, and at the end, the players will be granted with a couple of weapons and XP.
2 The Siege Of Moondown
The Siege of Moondown is a very fun side quest players can do after they become the Siegebreaker. On this quest, the players are initially tasked with defending a camp from Tuatha invaders. Things immediately go haywire from there and players are then tasked with a rescue mission after a healer becomes abducted.
Many events and scenarios unfold as this quest moves forward, and at the end of it is a final battle against a final wave of invaders. This battle is preceded with a moving speech by the Siegebreaker himself, with players being able to choose the things the Fateless One will say on the speech.
1 The Flowering
The Flowering is a side quest found in Lorca-Rane, and it is given by Osduin, an interesting Summer Fae character who's clearly enthusiastic about the things he does. The Fateless One comes into the story when Osduin's companion, Boderill, becomes missing. Osduin is more than looking forward to completing his telling routine called "The Flowering" but he needs his companion to do so.
This side quest has a plot twist that can be predictable depending on how perceptive the player is. Whatever the case, this quest is particularly short and straightforward, but it's very interesting to do and it's worth doing considering the loot and rewards it provides at the end of the quest.
