10 Video Games With The Goofiest Physics, Ranked | Game Rant
Goofy physics in video games is often seen as a bad thing, but it's also hilarious. It is prime comedy, and a lot of gamers like to make videos just to show off a mammoth suddenly flying in the air after being hit by a sword (thanks Skyrim). A lot of gamers actually have found these physics-bugs enjoyable for laughter's sake, which is why there are also games that have bad physics on purpose.
These games turn the human body into jello, animals to ragdolls, and can make the weight and movement of items have no sense anymore. If you are playing to "win," then you are playing wrong. It is purely fun, and a lot of these games are either insanely difficult due to the physics, or are sandbox games with no plot.
10 Totally Reliable Delivery Service
The goal of this game is to deliver packages, and to do with with very difficult to manage ragdoll physics. It has local and online multiplayer for people to use the power of teamwork if desired. Taking a break from delivery and playing around is expected, just to explore the ridiculous physics.
All this is known from just watching videos about this game. It doesn't come out uni 2021, which is why it cannot be fairly ranked yet. However, it obviously deserved a spot on this list. However, the beta is available to play on Steam.
9 Happy Wheels
While this game was released back in 2010, it was just released for Android this year. It is well known for its ragdoll physics as well as its graphic violence.
The player gets to choose from a set of characters with various vehicles. The choices are rather silly (like a businessman on a Segway is one option). Happy Wheels also has a level editor that players can use and upload their own courses to a public server. Players found the game entertaining and publications such as IGN found it as one of the best free games of its time.
8 Gang Beasts
Gang Beats is a beat em' up multiplayer game. The characters are gelatinous and are basically fighting ragdolls. Players have little control over their bodies and they move fluidly instead of with stiffness. This can be hilarious to watch, especially in a big fight between eight different players. Each limb is individually controlled, which makes it both funny and difficult.
A criticism players do have about this game is that it lacks enough content to keep playing and it isn't exactly fun unless you have friends to play it with. There are also Steam reviews that say players enjoyed the older version more than the updated one.
7 I Am Bread
In this game, you play a piece of bread that must find a way to become toast. The controls are wacky, having you control different parts of a bread slice individually. Four keys, four corners that are controllable.
The physics of this bread is pretty crazy, as you have to basically Spider-Man yourself across a kitchen towards a toaster via flopping or flinging. It certainly is creative, but doesn't have the most silly physics compared to some others. It mostly leans of the absurdity that you are a slice of bread
6 Octodad: Dadliest Catch
This game is about an octopus in disguise that is trying to complete the daily tasks of a suburban dad. It is pretty clever, as it actually makes sense that maneuvering around would be quite wacky, difficult, and strange as an octopus pretending to be a human man.
The charm of the game is how the odd protagonist is put in very mundane situations that hilariously are a challenge for him. Criticisms included the game being too short. However brief though, it is a hilarious and fun experience.
5 Surgeon Simulator
Surgeon Simulator is where physics humor meets black comedy. You play as a surgeon and have to operate, but the controls and physics make victory near impossible. It is not totally for the faint of heart either. Like Happy Wheels, this game can get gory.
The frustration of trying to complete missions is part of the fun. Some players have complained that the game is more fun to watch than to actually play. If you do prefer watching, many big time streamers have tackled this game.
4 Totally Accurate Battle Simulator
This battle simulator was released in 2019 and it known for its goofy take on chaotic combat. The physics are as wonky as can be, and the games' updates give the players more unique ways to mess around and create chaos.
Besides the hilarious ragdoll physics, the game is known for its detailed maps and awesome costumes. The only minor complaint players have is that the game can occasionally lag if you create a large-scale battle.
3 Human Fall Flat
This game can be done solo or with up to eight players. It is not just about the ragdoll physics, but also about solving puzzles. Due to the physics, the puzzles can be an extra challenge and take a lot of teamwork. Like others on this list, the ragdoll physics can make the game quite hard but makes up for that frustration with how funny it looks.
Its definitely at its best when playing friends, but the puzzles are fun to solve either way. A workshop has recently been added too, giving players more reasons to play the game after all the levels has been done.
2 Goat Simulator
Released in 2014, Goat Simulator is well known in the gaming world for good reason. It is all wacky physics fun, and all with the quirky detail of being a goat whose sole purpose is to wreck stuff. The Steam description says that the team behind this game kept most of the harmless bugs because it added to the games' hilarity.
Obviously, like some others on this list, this game is part of the joke simulation genre. However, it does go the extra mile and parodies that genre as well. It is known to give its players a lot of laughs.
1 Garry's Mod
Even if you've never played around with it, most gamers know about Garry's Mod. It has been around for a while now, which its initial release in 2004. Like some others on this list, it is a sandbox game. Originally, it was just a mod for Valve's Source game engine but expanded and was released as its own game in 2006.
Like most sandbox games, Garry's Mod as no set objectives. It is a mayhem of bending the rules of physics though. Players can set anything to ragdoll physics, freeze them, pick them, and have them interact with each other. It is not be an odd speculation to believe this game inspired many of the others.
