FBI Investigating Reports of Mysterious Jetpack Man
The FBI is investigating multiple sightings from commercial airline pilots of a man flying in a jet pack near Los Angeles International Airport last Sunday night. An American Airlines pilot radioed the control tower at LAX to report that a man in a jet pack was flying off the left-hand side of their aircraft and at about the same altitude as the plane. The plane was at 3,000 feet and ten miles out from landing. “Tower, American 1997. We just passed a guy in a jet pack,” the Los Angeles Times quotes the pilot as saying. (Listen to the radio calls here.) A second pilot, with JetBlue Airways, also radioed in a report of a sighting of a man in a jet pack. [caption id="attachment_2401954" align="alignnone" width="720"] "I gotta get one of those."[/caption] The LA Times quoted an FBI spokesperson as saying the Bureau is looking into the reports made by the pilots. There's no word yet on whether the suspect is a Mandalorian, a Rocketeer, or just a suave British secret agent on a mission but in any event, the individual in question certainly has captured the attention of local media. (In all seriousness, though, if this guy was obstructing the path of incoming flights then he will likely be charged for endangering aircraft and those aboard them.) It should be noted that many aerospace and defense industry companies are situated in El Segundo, a community very close to LAX. Could it have been one of their R&D projects? Or maybe just someone wealthy and crazy enough to own their own jet pack. Let us know your theories on who or what this mysterious jetpack man is in the comments.
