Fortnite: How to Avoid Being Attacked By Sharks | Game Rant
Fortnite's new shark enemies can be a massive pain, but one Redditor has found a way to get around their frequent attacks. The method isn't easy by any means, but it does provide players with a reliable defense against them. Shark attacks can even happen while on land, so simply avoiding the water doesn't work.
Fortnite first added sharks in chapter 2, and they have since been a thorn in players sides. There are some strategies for dealing with these menaces, but none of them are very predictable, especially given how fast sharks can attack. Now players have more options.
This new method revolves around the use of a new item added in recently with the representation of Marvel characters within Fortnite. More specifically, players will need to locate and defeat Dr. Doom, and then loot him. One of his items is particularly useful for fending off sharks unlike any other.
Dr. Doom can be found in Doom's Domain, marked on the map and easily visible from the Battle Bus. After dropping here, players simply need to locate the tallest building in the area, as Dr. Doom is located here. Defeating Dr. Doom in Fortnite can be challenging, but after managing to do so players will receive some useful items. The Arcane Gauntlets will help with defeating other players in combat, but for the purposes of fighting back sharks, players will want to make sure that they grab the Mystical Bomb weapon.
As shown in the video above, any time a shark jumps towards the player, the mystical bomb can be activated and thrown its way. Should the player manage to hit, the shark will be blasted sky high and sent right back into the ocean from whence it came. Most weapons don't stagger or stop the shark in any way, so this can be incredibly useful. Of course, it still relies on the player being able to react to and hit the shark before it finishes its attack, but given the size of both the shark and the Mystical Bomb projectile, that shouldn't be terribly difficult.
Players are absolutely loving this new method as most find sharks to be incredibly annoying. They can often attack without warning and in erratic ways, so having a way to defend against them is nice. It's just a little bit odd that it took Marvel crossing over with Fortnite for players to be able to deal with sharks properly.
Fortnite is available now on Mobile, PC, PS4, Stadia, Switch, and Xbox One.
