GTA Online Offering Players Extra Rewards in Diamond Adversary Series This Week
Rockstar Games' Grand Theft Auto 5 released in 2013, and has become a staple of two console generations with further plans to be released on Sony's PlayStation 5 and Microsoft's Xbox Series X. Its multiplayer component Grand Theft Auto Online has also stayed relevant thanks to a steady stream of content, such as new features added in its 2020 Summer Update, and this week players can come back to make a killing at the in-game casino.
The "Diamond Adversary Series" was announced by Rockstar Thursday, offering players double payouts on a number of game modes in the Diamond Casino, including "Special Cargo Sales" based on the most-played activity over the last weekend. The developers posit this means of earning money as an alternative to taking part in GTA Online's Diamond Casino heists, and players who take part in the series have the chance to win an additional one-time bonus of $250 thousand.
Also available at the Diamond Casino is the chance to win a Maibatsu Penumbra FF vehicle through the Lucky Wheel, as well as discounts up to 40 percent off on numerous other vehicles. Players can also earn double cash and RP rewards until September 9 by taking part in the Gerald's Last Play mission set added this April, according to Rockstar.
This event announcement on the Rockstar Newswire also talks about what extra goodies GTA Online players can get this week if they link their accounts with Prime Gaming, the recent replacement for Twitch Prime rewards. These include a one-time payment of $200,000, a free nightclub in the Vespucci Canals, and 70 percent off on the purchase of a plane called the Mammoth Avenger.
GTA Online will also be moving to next-generation consoles alongside GTA 5, and Rockstar has promised there will be additional content added going forward. This should give players a lot of incentive to keep playing now and storing up resources to make use of when new content arrives.
Unfortunately for Rockstar, it's unclear how many GTA Online players will actually want to participate in an event focused on gambling beyond it being something to do. The developers have offered players so much free in-game currency over the last few months that some have started complaining about having trouble counting their money due to how the systems in place enumerate higher amounts.
GTA Online is available now on PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One, and will release on PS5 and Xbox Series X in 2021.
