Sniper Elite 4 Announced for Switch | Game Rant
For several years, the Nintendo Switch has been garnering success in the gaming world, and part of this process includes expanding its roster of games added to the platform from previous years. This year, it'll be adding the military-shooter Sniper Elite 4, which will release on the Nintendo Switch during holiday 2020.
Sniper Elite 4 was originally released in 2017 after it had gone through some necessary changes. The game was made by developer Rebellion Developments, the same developers behind the new game Evil Genius 2: World Domination, and sold for the PC, Xbox One, and PS4 platforms.
Many Sniper Elite 4 reviews asserted that the game succeeded in delivering the X-Ray, bone-shattering gunplay that the series is well known for executing. This time around, the game will have its own spot in the Nintendo Switch lineup during the upcoming holiday season, bringing everything special about it to the handheld platform.
The announcement trailer itself cuts right to the chase, starting off with the main character, Karl Fairburne, narrating the game’s premise – Sniper Elite 4 is set in WW2 – as he heads off from North Africa to help liberate a Nazi-occupied Italy from fascist control. The video shows off the various methods players can use to eliminate enemies from using mines as traps to making an incredible, long-range shot at a boat’s gas tank to destroy it. The video ends with shots of the many explorable maps featured in the game, from bright San Celini Island to the dark military fortress of the Magazzeno Coastal Facility, and Fairburne running away from a bombing in the tundra.
The trailer shows that the game will still retain the defining gameplay mechanics, level design, and varying maps that helped distinguish it from other shooters. It hasn’t shown any sign of cutting content or altering important elements of the gameplay for the new console. This isn’t too surprising, as this isn’t the first installment in the series to be ported over to the Nintendo Switch. In fact, its predecessor was released last year for the Nintendo Switch. Sniper Elite 3: Ultimate Edition, upon its release for the Switch last year, found solid success. Sniper Elite 4 will not be treading uncharted waters here, and will be following in its previous entry’s footsteps as it transitions to the portable console this holiday season.
Sniper Elite 4 will arrive to the Nintendo Switch this Holiday 2020.
