Among Us Spam Attack Sends a Barrage of Trump Messages
While there are many video games tied to certain political beliefs, most gamers wouldn't say that Among Us is one of them. While it was recently played by American politician Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez on Twitch, the stream was more focused on fun than the current American political system.
Recently however, some players in public games in Among Us have been getting a far different experience from the game. This is due to hacker Eris Loris doing what they're known for on YouTube and hacking the game. Instead of cheating, however, they are forcing spam messages in public games promoting the re-election of Donald Trump as the United States president.
When this hack is active, all players will continue to repeat the message of "subscribe to eris loris | TRUMP2020" whether or not they typed it. The messages will keep coming out at a pace where it is impossible to see any other messages and make any kind of text conversation impossible.
Eris Loris is a hacker on YouTube that is also a Donald Trump supporter. Their YouTube channel is filled with other game hacks, as well as a message for Among Us players to "stay mad." It is unknown if this attack is due to the recent AOC stream or due to the current popularity of Among Us. Either way, the hack makes many public games unplayable for all players, no matter their political beliefs.
In brighter news, however, InnerSloth however has put out an announcement on Twitter regarding the issue. The team members on Among Us are aware of the situation and are currently looking into a way to fix it, hopefully preventing any other attacks like this current one from happening in the future.
Players who currently want to play Among Us are recommended to follow the advice given out by InnerSloth. This advice is to play with others trusted players for now or to stick to private games until the issue is fixed. Those who are hosting servers should also ban any suspicious parties from the server in case it seems that any of the players are involved with the Eris Loris Trump spam hack.
Hacking players have not been new to Among Us, but this hack is likely one of the largest hacks carried out at this scale. Considering how many children are also playing Among Us, it is also concerning what others with this power may do in the future if this issue is not fixed soon.
Among Us is out now on PC and mobile devices.
