Beat Saber Multiplayer Available Now | Game Rant
Of all the games released for virtual reality since the resurgence of the medium several years ago, few have been as impactful and well-received as Beat Saber. The VR rhythm game tasks players with using hand-tracking controllers to slice through blocks at differing angles, one of the most compelling VR experience available to this day. Beat Saber developer Beat Games isn't content with the game as it is, however. Today, Beat Saber received an impressive new multiplayer mode.
The new multiplayer update, which is available now on PC and is coming to PSVR soon, adds a variety of cool features. Joining multiplayer matches with up to five total players via quick play or a private server is just the start of it. Players will also be able to create customized characters which their opponents can see mid-match. And to bring it all together is a new arena so that Beat Saber multiplayer participants can see their opponents while they're playing
There are some limitations to Beat Saber's multiplayer, understandably. For the time being, Beat Saber won't have crossplay, even after the update arrives on PS4. Beat Games is going to keep evaluating whether it can be added in the future, though. Also, multiplayer will only work with official tracks. Unofficial songs added by fans are not supported and Beat Games has no plans to support them in the future. Lastly, there won't be any voice support in Beat Saber's multiplayer, though platform voice chat works just fine.
One of the best virtual reality games available on any platform just got better. Beat Saber players on both Steam and Oculus can now group up with friends or challenge some strangers in the game's multiplayer mode.
Beat Saber is available now on PC and PSVR.
