Call of Duty Mobile Pre-Registrations Exceed 50 Million in China

Last year, Call of Duty Mobile released to the Call of Duty community, though not in China. Now, however, TiMi Studios is bringing Call of Duty Mobile to the Chinese market, with a successful public beta leading the charge last week.

The developer has been hard at work updating its titles through the Anniversary and Halloween events. The game continuously gains new content, bringing in fan-favorite features from other titles in the Call of Duty franchise. Many players describe the game as an authentic Call of Duty experience despite its emphasis on mobile devices.

The Chinese gaming community seems excited for Call of Duty Mobile's launch, as seen through 50 million ore-registrations across the country. According to Niko Partners Senior Analyst Daniel Ahmad on Twitter, Tencent will be increasing its marketing campaign this month. For Activision, China is an untapped community for the mobile title, despite the nation's love for mobile gaming. Similar to the release of PUBG Mobile, some changes will have to be made to Call of Duty Mobile before it is approved for release to the China audience.

PUBG Mobile, Fortnite, and many other mobile games have had to make adjustments to bypass Chinese censorship, from the removal of certain insignias to the banning of blood and corpses from the title. There will, no doubt, be differences in Call of Duty Mobile's release but that has not deterred the developers from releasing the game.

Still, the overall mechanics and feel of Call of Duty Mobile remain the same, as the majority of the changes are to be minor tweaks. China will be joining the game's community, adding to its 300 million downloads worldwide. Based on the pre-registrations for the game in China, the developers are likely expecting Call of Duty Mobile's popularity to rise after the release.

Call of Duty Mobile plans to continue to give fans monthly new content including maps, soldiers, weapons, and game modes. As they continue to create a melting pot of content drawn from Call of Duty franchise favorites it will be interesting to see how the addition of the China community affects content releases.

With the addition of China, the game will have established a worldwide foothold. As the game continues to grow, it will be interesting to see the community change as mobile gaming continues to grow as a platform.

Call of Duty Mobile is available on iOS and Android devices.
