Fortnite: How To Eat Candy | Game Rant
Fortnite Season 4 Week 9 has kicked off the game's Halloween festivities. Fortnitemares 2020 is the name, and the reintroduction of Shadow Midas, Shadow forms, and delicious Halloween candy, are this year's games.
Candy can be found scattered throughout Fortnite as of this week's patch, and even players who don't care for Challenges will want to keep their eyes out for these sweets. Not only do they restore health and shields, they also bestow special abilities upon their consumers.
One of the Season 4 Week 9 Challenges asks players to eat 25 of the newly available Candy, and though completing the challenge awards experience, the candy itself is arguably more valuable. Players can use this seasonal resource to stay alive, and depending on the rarity of the candy, they can also expect it to grant special gifts. Some varieties of candy just boost speed and jumping abilities, but others are known to grant valuable combat assets like thermal vision.
Gifts aside, players can find candy pretty much anywhere on the map right now, especially near houses and buildings. Marvel's heroes still aren't done for the Fortnite Season, but even Dr. Doom is taking a brief break to set out decorations. Players in search of sugary goodness should keep eyes peeled for in-game Halloween decorations and/or installations, and look for baskets of candy, or a trick-or-treat display within them. Players must then strike these baskets to make the candy fall out, and gather and/or consume the candy like any other foraged Fortnite good.
25 pieces of candy will take some traveling to find, but it's certainly doable within one match. If players aren't feeling up to the literal trick-or-treating, they can always head to Holly Hedges for a sure shot at some candy. The Hedges themselves are irrelevant, instead, players should head to a new seasonal pop-up shop just west of Holly Hedges.
"Hey Boo!" is a Halloween superstore, marked by the small pumpkin basket in the map above. Players will find baskets of candy placed bountifully throughout its interior. Although a landing at Hey Boo! risks drawing the attention of other trick-or-treaters, the certain supply of candy is probably worth the visit.
All this said, Fortnitemares 2020 doesn't just have players trick-or-treating, it also reintroduces the notorious gold-loving Midas as Shadow Midas, and allows players to enter Shadow form and haunt the Fortnite map. If playing as a Shadow, players will actually be able to pick up some of this candy, though doing so doesn't affect the "Eat 25 Candy" Challenge.
Fortnite is available now on PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
