Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity Screenshots Show King Rhoam Leading Soldiers
Nintendo of America has given players another glimpse at Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity on its Twitter account. Kings in the Legend of Zelda series often take a passive role in the games, but that does not seem to be the case in Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity.
In a tweet, Nintendo of America gave players new reasons to be excited about Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity by showing screenshots of King Rhoam. There were three different screenshots shown in the tweet, giving players an idea of what King Rhoam’s role is in the Age of Calamity.
One of the screenshots shows King Rhoam standing and facing forward while he is holding a large two-handed sword, which appears to be his main weapon in the game, as he is holding the same sword in a different screenshot. The sword also appears to have some sort of light coming out of it, which looks like the light that comes out of Princess Zelda when she uses her powers.
The second screenshot appears to be King Rhoam instructing a number of Hylian Knights on what they should do next. One big change in Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity that can be noted here is that Hylian Knights have certain classes and jobs. The knights he is instructing appear to be the same rank as Link, and there are two knights beside King Rhoam that appear to be his personal guard.
In the next screenshot, the red and blue Hylian Knights appear to be fighting at King Rhoam’s side. King Rhoam himself looks like he was also a part of the battle, wielding the large two-handed weapon with one hand. This seems to hint that King Rhoam will be a playable character in Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity. This would not be the first time a Hylian King would be playable, as King Daphnes from The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker was playable in Hyrule Warriors Legends.
The original Hyrule Warriors had a number of problems that the fans wanted to get fixed, but it was still a very popular game. Potentially adding King Rhoam as a playable character would help give Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity a larger playable roster, which many fans desire from the series. King Rhoam is not confirmed to be playable, though the screenshots make it seem more likely, and the fact that he has a sword may give fans hope that they'll be able to step into his shoes.
Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity releases November 20th for Nintendo Switch.
